Story for this song : Male name = Amer Woman name = Sayuri *Back Story* Sayuri padded into their shared apartment. She was having a joyful day until...she heard moans from the master bed room...She ran to the room and afraid of what's on the other side but still determined slowly opened the door...Only to see her best friend and fiancé in a VERY intimate position..Her best friend was the first to get out of her shock and opened her mouth to speak only for Sayuri to quickly dash out of the house. She was running quite a while until...she found herself at her mother's grave. Slowly she placed her forehead against the aging stone and finally spoke "I'm coming...mommy..." *Flashback* Young Sayuri running towards her mother she was so close and said "I'm coming Mommy!!!" but...suddenly there was a huge *HONK!!!* and Her mother...her mama...her precious one..laid in her own pool of blood.. *Flashback ending* That was the day Sayuri lost a sparkle in her eyes. Sayuri opened her eyes with tears running down before she heard "YURI!!!" Only one person called her that..Amer! Sayuri got up and ran. She ran so quickly the wind was slapping her face until...she heard a *SCREECHHH* and everything hurt..And everything around her blacken until...she was..dead... End of back story Amer woke up hoping that everything was a dream and went to kiss his princess only to see she's not there....He remember how he could of sworn He saw her shadow..Amer quickly ran to escape the sadness only to find Sayuri being killed over and over...He broke into a run but every where we went he saw her...She repeatingly saying "Why did you leave me.." Just a little story, it's a hobby of mine. Shadow sat up, and looked around desperately. Then he remembered. "No, she's gone." He whispered. Three years ago, his best friend had moved away to London. 'No, she's more than my best friend. I wanted her to be more.' He thought sadly, reflecting on that day. He'd gone to say goodbye, only to find her talking to some other guy. He'd run away, hearing her calling his name. But he hadn't listened, and he never saw her again. "Damn it, Ariel! You promised!" He whispered, hugging his arms. He could see her in his mind, in the same dress that he'd met her in at the prom. She'd been sitting outside, crying because her date had abandoned her. He remembered kneeling beside her and offering her his jacket because she was shivering. She'd only sobbed harder and grabbed him, clinging to him. 'I...I loved her.' Shadow thought. He stood up, and tripped over a box. He cursed loudly and fumbled in the dark until he picked up the box. Then he stumbled to the light and turned it on. He opened the box and stared. "What is this?" He asked, picking up a picture. His heart skipped a beat and he stifled a sob. "I miss you, Ariel." He whispered, staring at the photo of his best friend. It had been taken at that same prom where he'd met her, by the school photographer. She was dancing with him, and they both looked so happy...but that was before Ariel moved away and Shadow went to college. 'Face it, you'll never see her again.' He thought. He put the photo back the box, put the lid on, and shoved it under his bed. Then he got up and got dressed, getting ready for his college classes. Once he was dressed, he got a coffee and walked to the bridge that spanned the large river that flowed through the city. Thirty minutes passed, and he began to shiver. It was freezing, and he was only wearing a light jacket and his pajama pants. He heard a sweet laugh, and he stiffened. "Jeez Shadow, you don't know when to quit! I thought I told you to dress warmly!" He turned, hardly daring to believe. At the end of the bridge stood the girl he'd always dreamed of, the girl he'd given his heart to. "Ariel?" He whispered. She smiled at him, and Shadow's heart jumped. But it made him sad to see the changes in her. Her brown hair was cut short, tied back from her face with a pink ribbon. Her face had worry lines now, and her clothes were more ragged. "Hello....Shadow." "Ariel!" He ran forward to greet her, flinging his arms around her. She laughed again and hugged him. "Missed me that much, huh?" She asked, glancing at him out of the corner of her eye. Shadow looked straight ahead, not willing to meet her blue eyes. "Why are you here? I thought your Instagram said you were engaged." "I was." "Was?" "My fiance cheated on me." "Oh, Ariel, I'm so sorry!" Shadow whispered. He felt her sigh, and she pulled back, meeting his eyes. "Don't be. He wasn't right for me. He was someone my parents picked, he was rich, fancy..." "Then why are you dressed like this?" "Shadow, you really don't know?" "Know what?" "My parents disowned me when I refused to marry the man they picked. This...this was the only thing I could think of. I hoped...I hoped that if I could come back to this town, back to this bridge, back....back to YOU, maybe...just maybe..." "Ariel, do you love me?" "Yes. Yes, I love you, Shadow." Ariel whispered, meeting his eyes. Shadow smiled and held out his hand. "We don't really need a big wedding, do we?" He asked. Ariel's eyes filled with tears and she smiled. "Are you purposing to me?" She asked, and Shadow smiled again. "Do you think I am? What would you say if I said yes?" "I'd say yes too." "Fine then." Shadow grabbed her in a hug. "Say yes, please. I need you in my life, Ariel. I knew you were the one the second I saw you at the prom. It was a mistake to let you go." "Oh...Shadow...I love you." "I do too. Come on now. Let's go home." "But I have nowhere to go!" "You can have my dorm room until I find you an apartment. Come." Shadow scooped her up, carrying her princess style. She laughed. "Shadow, what are you doing?" "Treating you like you deserve. You're my princess, and you deserve to be treated like one. So, starting right now, you'll be treated like the royalty you are." "Shadow, you shouldn't!" She cried as he started to walk back to his dorm room. He smiled down at her. "Oh, just shut up and let me carry you." "As long as you promise you won't drop me." "You really think I'd do that?" "I love you." "I certainly hope so. Do you remember this town?" "Of course, but show me around anyway." Anybody watching would have seen a happy couple wandering the town then. But to this day, if you go back to the town, now long abandoned, you'll see a college-age couple ghosting through the streets, talking and laughing. Nothing you could say or do would disturb them, even if you knocked down the ruins of the town, they'd still wander, basking in each other's company. But there's a rumor going around. Once you see them, you never see them again. And to this day, on the bridge, there's a heart carved into the wood, with two initials inside it, and people still wonder who carved them. But that couple knows, and we know, and it'll be our secret.

I couldn't help but notice the little numbers on their cranes. It gave me a little extra characterization for this couple. It makes me imagine they sat next to each other in class, and he'd look over and see her acing every test while he's struggling with his grades. She notices that and doesn't know what to say, so this time she just sets her page down and folds it. She meets his eye and repeats the motion until he copies her, and step by step they waste that class period turning their tests into little origami cranes. When she sees that the scores are still visible she gets upset, but he just laughs. After class she offers to help him study, and it moves on from there. Years pass, and he breaks up with her. He never fell out of love, far from it. He just thinks he's holding her back and nothing she says will change his mind. She moves to go to college, and he stays in this little town, his own little hell. He catches glimpses of her on TV. She's doing well, and he's just doing. She tried to move on. She started dating someone, this really sweet guy, but the spark just isn't there. After a while, she decides to visit her parents, and she invites her boyfriend to come meet them too. She sees a glimpse of him, and she sees a glimpse of the boy, and hurries her pace so he doesn't see her. She goes to a cafe, the same one she always studied at with the boy. She sits there in her boyfriends arms, quietly enjoying coffee. The boy sees her through the windows, and turns in another direction. She brings her boyfriend to her parents house. They start going through old photo albums. Her in elementary. Her in middle school. They try to change the subject, but her boyfriend asks about high school. After the first year, almost every other photo has the boy there with her. After they leave her parents house, her boyfriend breaks up with her. He'd had a feeling something wasn't right with her and this visit made him sure. "Its ok. You just weren't quite done with this town yet." She starts walking, and somehow, she finds herself back at the cafe. She just sits down and orders another drink. That's when she notices the boy, sitting at the counter. She didn't know what she was thinking when she asked the waitress for a piece of paper from her book. She didn't know what she was thinking when she asked the waitress to give him one. But when he looked up, and saw her with a piece in front of her, folded once, they both knew what it meant. They didn't say a word until the cranes were done, and that's when he walked over, and they talk. And years later, a pair of twins run around a home in this little town, where four yellowing cranes rest on the mantle.
