Fun fact, you can use aviation weather sources to find out how high the cloud tops are. This way you don't have to lug it outside on what could be a bad night (high clouds) to try this.

@@ChamaraVFX probably not, especially if you added vents to pull air past the LCD. Having said that, that's one of the main reasons why so many large format digital projection systems use DLP chips instead.

Anyone on the other side of the clouds won't see anything. The light is being absorbed and reflected by the clouds which is why you see the "image" on them. It doesn't penetrate through. Same reason you don't see the sun or sunlight through clouds..

That is amazing! I mean with 10,000 lumens, you can see the light beams clear enough to see them cross over at the focal point in front of the lens.

Epic. So much possibility for shadow art. Man that flashlight is so bright! Haha I'd love to try this with some Phantom cameras and see how far I could push the frame rate from one point source light.

I just use an array of 9, 100W LED modules(On a big heatsink) running off an old server PSU. Not quite Tesla500's 1500kW LED water arrays that you can cook a pizza using, but it works for me and without the limitations of battery.

Superb Sir! I was watching, thinking to myself how cool that is, whe I realised (as an astronomer) that I had a 50 mm finder scope and an 800 lumen bicycle light ! And both were within 2 metres of me. It works gooood!!! :)

At 6:37 you can actually see the light beam flipping over and the blank spot in the beam that is caused by the emblem. Very cool

I'll check your channel to see when you get some clouds. I have had zero luck even with clouds (seemingly) close overhead. Just sort of makes the cloud glow a bit but no image. Good image on rice silo several hundred yards away.

Now that I know how to do this I have quite a few lights that will reach the clouds on their own to try this. Awesome video.

I love it! There's a lot of light leaking out of the flashlight end. If you had more reflective surfaces keeping all the light inside and only letting it go out through around the symbol, you might get even better performance.

maybe add a lens directly in front of the flashlight, in order not to loose so much light that shines onto the pipe inner surface?
