In this video I'm going to tell you tips to have fun and to be safe in Lapa district, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Lapa area is one of the best places for nightlife in Rio de Janeiro. It´s full of bars and clubs, and the street party in Lapa very cool! The proper way of enjoy lapa is: grab a caipirinha on the kiosks on the street, walk around (dont forget to follow the safety tips) and after you decide one bar or club to stay.
and the basic safety tips to have fun and to be safe in Lapa are: cellphone always in your front pocket (not in the back pocket), no gold or necklaces and very important: dont walk in the empty, dark, narrow streets. Stay where the party is! Be closed to more people!
If you follow this basic safety tips in Lapa, you will be fine and dont forget to save at least 1 night to visit Lapa district! It´s where the party is in Rio de Janeiro!

Thank you for the video! I am 70 years old and from Alaska. I've dreamed of going to Rio since I was 11... all because of samba! I hope to go next June or July for a month and of course I only want to stay in Lapa. Because of my age, are there things I should especially be careful of?

Hi Mike, how are you doing? Lapa is good, but a little bit dangerous... a lot of pick pockets and small robberies principally involving women and elderly people! Be aware with your belongings, and avoid walking on the streets late in night and on Sundays and Holidays in Lapa and Downtown... I would suggest to you to stay in South Zone (Botafogo, Copacabana, Ipanema or Leblon) and you can take the subway to go to Lapa and enjoy your Samba! Other place you can also stay is Santa Thereza, but the accessibility there is really hard and also the public transportation is not good! Please let me know if you have any question! Hi Marwan! yes.... but in Lapa there isn't any metro station. The closest is the Cinelandia Metro Station or Carioca Metro Station. But yeah, you can stay in Lapa! There are a lot of hotels in Lapa!

Hi again my friend! look, tomorrow (Monday) there will be a new video about night life in Copacabana + safety tips.... just like this video, but about Copacabana. if you're still in Rio, try to watch it, you will like if you're staying in Copacabana! But will try to answer your question... look, in weekdays it´s not so easy to find good parties. so look for ´tourist parties´.... I know some people can think that parties for tourists aren't good, and it sounds like a trap... but in Rio they're very cool. And each day of the week they have a different kind of party. So ask in your hotel about Bem Brasil Parties and Rio Sessions parties and choose you favorite party. You can find them on social middies too.(both companies have parties in Copacabana)

Oi Alyssa! Tudo bem? Yes, I would say it is... actually that's the limit if you want more warm water.... but look, in Rio de Janeiro the water isn't so warm.... in the northeast of Brazil for example it's warm all year long! Seja Bem vinda! =)

Hi my friend! No, usually bank are NOT the best places to exchange money. street shops called casa de cambio (exchange house) are better. Better price and faster! In cities such as Rio and Sao Paulo there are many!
