It appears all 3 hydraulic systems were ruptured and the cabin was punctured and depressurized. Having Russian officials immediately saying a bird strike is the cause is very suspicious, seeing as there is no possible way a bird strike can cause this sort of damage and the engines were operational. Lastly, what appears to be the out-to-in shrapnel damage on the tail section. I can’t say it was a S2A missile, but I can say it wasn’t a bird strike.

The pilots died in the crash. What they did say was a bird strike. As a pilot I can say that what I watched in the final seconds was an aircraft that stalled and did not have enough altitude to recover.

I rarely do commentary anymore but 13:19 I had to. I subscribed to NBC News literally the week after everything shut down at the beginning of the pandemic and remain subscribed. I love Lester Holt's coverage as well as his amazing team as well as their good faith effort to bring "good news" here and there, which differentiates them from other corporate news outlets, at least in my view.
