There are a few problems with the software update: 1. Obviously, testings weren’t adequately done in a test environment before the update went live. 2. The disaster recovery plan wasn’t designed or executed correctly, where a system rollback wasn’t done to restore the system to the previous state before the update. This is the nightmare that jolts the IT and Software Quality Assurance team awake at night. But nothing can ever be error free, especially when it comes to Information Technology. It will happen again.

My company has this software, and if you click something *it happens.* No verification. One time my screensaver started to kick on so I wiggled my mouse and clicked to stop it... and I clicked a button that deactivated somebody's account lol

We were travelling through Death valley where there is no even coverage and out of nowhere my iphone screen went all dark and did not react on anything, after some time it lit and said your update is complete, please connect either to lap top or wifi. IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE!!!!! Good that my husband has Samsung phone. Only when we got to a hotel i could activate my phone. I will never own any apple product again

...which is why I didn't adopt Windows 10. With 7 I could review every individual update to check for bugs or malware. In all that time I never had a serious issue other than an occasional bSOD because of a bad Nvidia video driver which was easy to fix by just rolling back ti the previous one that worked..

Still stunned that an external cybersecurity company had the ability to load proprietary drivers on so many corporate machines, all at once, and remotely -- and at the kernel level! That may sound normal to some in IT Infrastructure, but those of us who've worked User Services can tell you that's a stupid move; as there is always a strong possibility something will go very wrong. It would have been smarter to first roll this out to far fewer machines, in a testing phase. Global outage or not, I am jaw-dropped that CrowdStrike did this in a blanket rollout. This multibillion dollar, Austin-based cybersecurity company needs to be held accountable. And a handful of nobodies loosing their jobs is the least of what should happen here.

It was a nightmare earlier this evening when I try to use my bank card after we had dinner, the casihers couldn't process our card, and it turns out to be they also had a bit of a problem with other customers as well, I ended up calling my bank and even then our connections kept getting disrupted many times over and the banker kept appolizing, said their systems were down. Evenutnally the manager finally excepted what little cash we had on hand which didn't even covered the cost of the dinner we had.

..the one thing I love and miss about Windows 7 and Server 2008 as this type of situation would likely not have occurred as it was easier to screen updates before applying them. This is one of the reasons I refused to adopt Win 10 for years as at the outset users had little control over the process. I could review each and every update individually to scan for bugs and malware. That went away with Microsoft's move to its "Windows as a service" model. Over the years that I have worked with Windows7 I never had a serious issue save for an occasional "blue screen" often caused by a "buggy" Nvidia driver update I could easily roll back from. In their "holy quest" to "protect" people form malware infection, Microsoft dropped the ball when it came to more experienced users and IT staff as we were treated like children. --------------- Now the Convair 880 "Lisa Marie" was used by Elvis. I remember it flying over my house on approach to the Madison WI airport for a concert there.
