Basic elementary grade science shows that especially since she was in that mental state she would have spilled some of the hot water on herself there by scalding herself and then would have more than likely dropped the pan. Even if she did manage to throw the water there was plenty of room for the cop to move back far enough to not be hit by any water. It's interesting that nobody picked up on the fact that the shooter failed to turn on his body camera as he was required to do. The officer whose camera was on is testifying against him. Look at the video once more. Once the officer pulls his gun pause the video. Do you see how much space is between the officer and the woman holding the pot! (Not to mention there’s also a counter between them). So how was he threatened? And why didn’t he de-escalate the situation and perhaps move backwards? If they seriously felt physically threatened (and not just too embarrassed to de-escalate the situation) all they had to do was step back out of range and try to talk her down for a few minutes. If that didn't work, well, hot water doesn't stay hot for very long, just accept that you might get a little wet, take her into custody and bring her in for mental health evaluation.
