Nightmare Before Christmas DIY : Sally's Potion Jars : Deadly Nightshade : Worms Wart : Frogs Breath

This is a Tutorial of how to create Sally’s Ingredient Jars from Nightmare Before Christmas, perfect for Halloween! This would be a great addition to our Potion, Prop Collection we have been making, or an excellent addition to a Kitchen!
You will need:
3 Glass Containers
Mod Podge
Black Crepe Paper or Tissue Paper
Paper Towel
Acrylic Paint in Greys and Blacks
Green and Brown Food Coloring
Rubbing Alcohol
Brown Metallic Acrylic Paint
Labels printed on Sticker Paper
Foam Brushes
Batting
Green Spray Paint

I’ve wanted the Deadly Nightshade jar for years, but could never get hold of it. I can’t believe how easy this looks, and how incredible the outcome! You’ve really inspired me, especially because I already own half the stuff! 😍 I have one question: what is the purpose of the alcohol? I assume it’s to stop the metallic paint from drying, but I’m not sure? Just curious. Great work!

The alcohol is used instead of water because eventually regular water potions will get yucky. You can also use distilled water and some glycerin instead of the alcohol. Have fun creating! 💜

If you're #extra like me, you could actually use metal jewelry wire or floral wire around the lip of jar and lid to create a lid you can "hinge" :)

Could you use bags of fake spiderwebs instead of the batting? I am also thinking of using a green colored battery string light to give it a ghoulish glow.

The alcohol potion should be homemade vanilla extract. Recipe: vodka or rum, 3 opened vanilla beans. The longer it sits, the better, and stronger the vanilla. A real potion you can use.😃

Why do you use *food colors* rather than a dab of paint to tint the Mod Podge? It's not like you don't have acrylic paint handy. Have to get some crepe paper now for texturing!

The paint doesn’t keep it transparent like the food coloring.
