Then it's not authentic acting/voice work. Well done, acting student!
@mercury7d10 жыл бұрын
Honestly, it's an excellent performance in my opinion. Even If there was no audio I would grade him high. He moves with jerky, exaggerated movements and expresses everything in his walk. Exactly like the real skellington. As for the acting itself, I see the emotion. How he struggles with what he loves and excels at, and his sorrow at their lonely victories. I don't think he perfected elfman. And if he had this would be much worse than it was, without a new soul to twist the knife just right. I agree, remake over carbon copy any day. (Original first)

I'm 50/50 on this. I don't really like the singing. I can't honestly say it's bad or anything, I just liked the movie version better. Deeper voiced and more mournful. But this guy can't really help the difference in tones, and I'd noticed with stage plays they like to add some drama and flair to the music. I can't fault them on that, but I still didn't really like the song. The dancing though, that was impressive! I mean Jack's all long-limbed and as an animated character those features are even more exaggerated, but this actor was able to give the impression several times of both the distinctively long limbs and the various ranges of motion Jack often goes into. It was fascinating to watch, and tons of kudos to the actor for not only pulling it off but making it look so effortless to boot!

I feel that this actor suits this role in appearance only. There were so many opportunities to emote in this song but he chose to go flat instead. There was a reason Danny Elfman persisted in being Jack's singing voice, and it was because he knew how to emote the songs properly. I know this is two years old now, but I just had to get this out there.

Same, i felt like his acting was too dramatic and loud, and that wasn’t like jack
@bluefalcon63564 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's the voice I'm guessing. But if I had to choose the physical acting over this than I'd rather have this
@MLongPhotography4 жыл бұрын
I totally agree. He’s way too musical theatre and less like Danny Elfman portrayal which is what everyone knows. I’m all for people adding their artistic flare but he’s a little too over the top. His physicality is much more similar.
@flanplan59034 жыл бұрын
@@MLongPhotography then again, the character of Jack can himself be a bit over the top at times (as is Elfman’s vocal style). I think that if you were to cast a big name in musical theatre for Jack, my choice would be Anthony Warlow (he has the physicality, acting prowess and voice to pull off a tim Burton style character). Raul Esparza and Marc Kudisch would be my two other choices.

He reminds me a bit more of Betelgeuse than Jack Skellington- talented either way but jack is sweeter and less jumpy~

Love this to become a Broadway show. Actor can sing, and you can feel the emotion in his voice. He did great giving us Jack!

What's this? What's this? A play long overdue! What's this? What's this? A show for me and you! I can't believe no one has ever taken this on. It's absolutely PERFECT for a stage adaptation. I wonder why Burton and Elfman have never pursued it.

the way he does that things with his legs and the way he walks truly blow my mind away! literally the definition of the live action version of Tim Burton characters. his voice, his walk, just.... perfect.

I honestly don't get all of the negative critiques. Theater IS drama lol...it is meant to be exaggerated and this was executed profoundly perfectly. I like the make-up and white hair for a creative more realistic tone.

He's really got the movements down of jack he just needs to work on his voice to sound more...Dramatic. That's kinda what made Jack so Epic was the way his voice turned into that deep dramatic tone every now and then. But yeah...I'm digging the idea this would be awesome.

this is effing fabulous, saw it shared on facebook and had to come find the original video... especially I had to come see who the actor is .. you reminded me of the fabulous guy who played Voldemort in Starkid's Harry Potter stage show tributes .. the way you move your body and mannerisms are perfect for the part.

I love this he is really good but it would be even better if he had a little less "anger" i guess is the word and more "sadness and wonder" if you get what i'm trying to say, because he seemed a more mad than upset and sad you know.....
@isa3026-o4l8 жыл бұрын
Well, this is a different take on the whole scheme. This is without a doubt at least a side of what Jack was feeling in the movie. So, they decided to being out that part of the emotions.
@mercury7d8 жыл бұрын
I get the feeling that this jack performance emphasizes more of his confusion at wanting something more, and the anger that comes with such confusion. He's the only one he knows that's bored, and he's mad that he doesn't know why. Why must the king be bored with his crown?
@jrfashion298 жыл бұрын
Nathan Deaton yeah that makes sense thanks
@ChestersonJack7 жыл бұрын
I got the same feeling
@thewannabegamer97 жыл бұрын
JustLynn what you translate as anger could be a frustration that the actor is portraying of Jack that we never get in the movie. This frustration is that he thought he knew he was for years and now he's trying to find "something unknown" to give him a new purpose of sorts to make him whole again. But what do I know. I'm entirely speculating. 😁
