You can overhang as much as you want on the front of the trailer. It's the back of it where it gets fun. There are so much worse loads than that my guy.

@@RickySanchez. No Ricky he don't know when it comes to flat bed or lowboy he's kind of like a guy that want to stay on the couch and watch sports all day we call them couch potatoes meaning he got just used of holding the steering wheel but now he's got to get out and move that 175 or 200 pound body no disrespect to trucker AK but he's got to open his mind up and start using his chains, edge protectors plastic or metal and rubber Mets and pieces of cut up carpet to protect the product he's delivering because if you get your destination with a broken piece of product you can get a rejected load and that's a sore back and lost wages so he got to get better so I'm assuming the company Bennett gave him a book different techniques of different loads and how to secure them to a lowboy flatbed trailer and if they did and he has a little bit of understanding about loading and tying stuff down he need to practice what he preach and read that manual of book of loading Loads on flatbeds and lowboys and strengthen his mind as well as his body and get with it because it's a lot of work in lowboy and flatbed .

Young man, they have been shipping those trailers that way for at least 20 years that I know of, with styro foam and wood blocks. I Hauled boo koo loads of them from Ga to tractor supplys all over the midwest. That front part of your load is legal as long as you can make a clear swing without interferring with the back of your cab or air and elect. lines. You better start getting used to tough loads and a sweaty crotch if you want to be a flatbedder. Like the old timers told us, flatbeds arent for sissies. You will be fine. Hang in there. Bill

Also carry pieces of old carpeting or rubber to protect your straps. It's a learning game. When the shipper shows you how to secure a load, add extra securement to be comfortable in your mind, not his. Be safe.

In my opinion you don't need to buy any type of trailer because you won't be pulling a step deck trailer very long. You have so much energy and positive attitude very time you change jobs then quit when you find out the job is not what you imagine it to be. If I wasn't old and retired I would runs circles around you. You need to look at each load as a challenge. You have the talent. You are just want a easy job.

I’ve hauled big Tex dumps out of Madill, OK plenty of times with no issues. Just gotta know where to strap and have quite a few 2” flat hook ratchets as well. If you can’t handle something simple like these you definitely won’t succeed doing anything that isn’t cookie cutter in the heavy haul world.

If this load sketched you out don't go into heavy haul. I guarantee your goin to haul worse loads then that. Also cut your old straps into one foot sections and use those pieces to protect the starps your using. It might take a little longer to tie down when you pad everything but you'll save yourself a lot of money and headaches. Keep on truckin bud!!!

Ive been doing flatbed for 6 years now, step deck and rgn , the beginning is tough but ive learned alot of valuable lessons over the years , this job becomes much easier as the experience comes , i wouldnt consider this a sketchy load by any means ,its just that youre new to the strapping and flat bed game. Youre doing fine ,best of luck

Trucker AK if you don't do it for yourself do it for your family and other drivers out there check your load at least three times and four more times to be safe I'm telling you this because when I did flatbed had a load of steel rebar I pickup at the steel plant in Columbus south Carolina I think that's right city left there about 8:00pm Wednesday night got on I-20west cross in to Georgia and about and hour and half are two hours in I had a driver sleep hit me in the ass of my trailer and change the ten foot spread rear axle to a tandem axle and shave the top of his head off and put the tail in of my trailer through his dash board broke the driver seat in my truck put me in my bunk thank God I was going up hill instead of going back down hill at that moment because he would've kill me-(USA trucking) did that they toe me up the road Thirty minutes but USA fired him about 8:00am Thursday morning not to scare you but always check and double-check and use those chains don't be scared to use them because if I hadn't used my chains young man I would be hear to tell you or other young drivers making flatbed or lowboy career job I'm happy to tell you because I see that young man compassion in you young man but from what I've seen on KZbin it's two older guys that have that same compassion tim Gentry and his friend that has the cabover call Orwell his name is Steve them two guy look to be very helpful God bless I wish you all the luck young man don't give up and don't let quit be part of your vocabulary young man I see you have big gold's so make it do what do🤠👍🤞🙏☝️💯.

Use some kind of corner protector on every strap where it touches something sharp. Old mud flaps-cardboard doubled up--anything. You'll learn about it after buying a few more straps-and it's hits the wallet.

Man you need to get some winches on your trailer first off. Secondly, the shipper will tell you how they want it secured but ultimately it’s up to you to be completely legal. In open deck you’re gonna find some challenging loads and honestly that’s part of the fun of it, the challenge. It can be discouraging at first but your learning every time and building that knowledge base. Trust me, after a certain amount of time nothing will phase you and you’ll bored with a basic strap and go load, lol
