Fura here. Seems so long ago I recorded this, some very happy times with my excellent guild mates. Some say in Vanilla we were all noobs and didn't know anything but as a leader I felt like I had a mega tuned Ferrari in the garage waiting to take on anything. Leading NA was a privilege.

Anyone who says we were noobs back in Vanilla never played back then. Yes, obviously, there was a learning curve, but we figured things out fairly quickly. Such people are either: 1) actual idiots, 2) willfully ignorant, or 3) think that Classic was the same as Vanilla (spoiler, it wasn't mainly bc it didn't have the progressive itemization that Vanilla did; Classic launched with AQ/Naxx quality gear, not the trash we had to start out with). Anyway, this is still prob my fav WoW video after all these years. The fight is fairly simplistic by today's standards, but it will always have a special place in my heart. Thanks for making this video.

There was something different about this time. You and 39 others all on TS working to down a huge raid boss. It felt epic and was so addicting. If you had Purples/Oranges it actually meant something back then, you earned that shit, most bosses dropped like 3 pieces of loot split across a 40 man group.

Been playing WoW on and off since vanilla, raided hardcore back in the days. I've had those 1% wipes as well and it felt incredible whenever we eventually managed to kill the boss after all those wipes. I came back to Classic in 2019 and it just wasn't nowhere near the experience of back in the days... Thank god we have these vid's still

I can't describe how epic this experience was! Had never been a gamer, never been a fan of RPG. From late 2004 to early 2006, it was an amazing time. This is the first video I saw when we prepared for The Molten Core. Fuck happened?? No words are ever enough. Amazing time!!!!

The video that started everything... the one that converted me to trance/techno/progressive from a hardcore metalhead back when I was 15. I fucking miss how epic everything was back then, only the best of the best getting to experience these bosses, working for months to get there. I knew if I worked just as hard I could reach these places, I could be in a top guild like Fura... and so I did and cleared up to naxx40 sapphiron before expansion came, sadly there wasn't enough time to farm frost res gear and people stopped raiding cos TBC was coming in a few months. After Fura stopped making videos I switched over to watching Mar from LootFTW who was on my server but alliance. Mar was also a mage who had similar types of tunes in his videos. Trance and world first kills just go together... I am so sad that guilds stopped doing it in favor of adding some suspense music, although the Nihilum vs Illidan was still one of the best vids ever.

I dont know how many times I watched this video but it inspired me to make a character called Fura for Lord of the Rings Online and made also some game movies with my raid on Server Belegaer. Saw Ragnaros just once and wiped with a random raid; and never saw Onyxia, although all quests were done. Quitted WoW due to school and my addiction playing too much WoW and Raids. Sweared I would quit Lotro if I ever get addicted like WoW, and it worked. Thank you Fura from Nightmare Asylum, I owe you my respects, my passion to play raids in big groups and making raid movies for some years!!!

I just saw a list of world firsts and nightmares asylum has been jacked of their title. I was in nightmares asylum and according to GM's at the time we were world first ragnaros -> chromaggus, and then drama beat us to nefarian. pretty fucked up imo.

Im seeing this mage hit 550 frostbolts, on elysium PVE im currently hitting 900 frostbolts. lol no one knew how to play back then. sad thing is im "worse" geared than she is.

you had to have loads of fr gear. even when it meant sacking loads of good stats, it kept you alive

900 on ragnaros or 900 overall, bosses had resists and other factors that lowered damage, second how can you compare if you are not using the same gear as Fura was. I mean knowing "how to play" and the damage of frostbolt is not really about skill, just gear. Also worth considering what patch elysium is on. This Rag kill was before BWL even opened so not just vanilla but very early vanilla. First kill on ragnaros was in april i belive and bwl opened in july and was the patch after the honor patch.
