It's cool, next step would be adding small details, a broken bottle of spirits, a tin mug or three, straps, clothing, boots, canisters.. you know. Love your work.

Makes me remember the 1:35 Academy M113 I built as a kid. You didn't need to glue on the roof, so you could always look at the interior. As a 'cheapskate' I used the little bit of beige and white I had left over, diluted the hell out of them, and it turned out to be one of the best brush paintjobs I ever did. Only a fraction of it was visible through the aft hatch, unless you removed the roof. What an awesome model that was!

Great job on the interior. Something to remember is the inside would be stained with gun smoke from the cannons and machine guns
@markfergerson21452 жыл бұрын
I think that's what the vertical staining on the walls is intended to represent. Smoke would collect on all surfaces (and the crew) but humidity changes and rain would make those streaks.

Very nice, as usual. When I am at a loss for reference material, I think of what my father told me once when I started building armor. He was a WWII vet in the US 13th Armored Division. Almost across the board, tank interiors of that day and time (and earlier) were a very light color. Each country coming to that solution independently. It was done to offset the dim lighting that was necessary. Cremeweiss in WWII German, off-white in WWII US, etc. I've read somewhere that I can't remember, that light green was used. Sorry. I just can't recall what country and when. Nevertheless, this A7V should really be nice. A lot of things you could do.

Hey Uncle Night Shift, I’m really liking the WWI tank series, wish I saw it before I finished my Mk V tank diorama by Emhar a few months ago, although to be fair I’m pretty sure the molds were cast back in 1918 so there was only so much I could do to save it 😅 Also I was going through old videos and was wondering if there’s any news on that Syrian T55 diorama you mentioned a few months ago? A modern diorama sounds pretty interesting

I've built a few Emhar kits as well, good memories! :D I'll most likely make a modern diorama with another tank.

You don't need to worry about tanks rusting on the interior. They really do! All that metal without any insulation means that all the moisture in the crew's breath, and any in the air, condenses on the inside walls. I've read plenty of accounts from WW2 tankers of how damp their tanks were inside.
@blackphantom992 жыл бұрын
Amazing Martin! Thankyou so much for giving us all inspiration mate! Love your channel ☺️👍
@josefodium88882 жыл бұрын
The thing with steel furniture is that as long as it is in use, it does not rust (oil from human hands acts as some kind of protection). Instead it’s polished to a mirror shine with cloth and skin acting as abrasives. So, in an actual tank those steel chairs would have quite an interesting transition from worn down and flaking paint at the back to a polished knife edge at the front with two distinct grooves from the legs. Same with the floor. Most soldiers used boots with nailed soles. So, that metal on metal contact polished floor panels heavily. Indeed in few years of active use the texture on those steel floors will be almost flat in places clearly showing the most used routes. If they will be lucky enough to survive that long.
@jacobkingsford52092 жыл бұрын
If you're still able to I'd recommend getting 1 or 2 micro LEDs and putting them on the inside. You should be able to hide them quite well along with the wires and fit a button battery between the floor and running gear. I did it with a B-17 with 3 lights and only if you intentionally look for the lights can you see them. The button is well hidden and battery inside the wings. But it makes the inside so much clearer and easy to see. Just thought having gone through the effort inside it would be nice to properly see.

I think since you painted the interior of the tank this would be an EXCELLENT time to try putting an actual light source inside of the tank, not something you would see directly but that would illuminate the details inside of the tank and draw your eye there. Something to think about.

With your own 3d printer, you can print a pair or two (different size) of correct boot soles. Than, after glueing them to toothpicks, dipping into pre-mixed, right colour and texture "mud", you can leave some "muddy boot" footprints on the floor... also a correct size "greasy handprints" on the walls should be possibile that way...
