This is a work of genius. The lyrics stand alone as a stunning piece of poetry. Then, coupled with a beautiful piece of music it just confirms Tuomas’s place as one of the best composers of the modern era.

"So much to live for, so much to die for. If only my heart had a home." Nightwish can say more in 17 words than most bands an say with a whole song.

I discovered Nightwish just about 2.5 years back. Been blown away, at my age I've heard allot and they have become my favorite. if you like heavier try Tribal or Song of myself. I will take a look at Metric. As far as whether you want Nightwish in your car, up to you. Music is subjective play what makes you happy, thats the point for all of us. There is no wrong :)

Well like you I also discovered Nightwish about 4 years ago. Being in my 70”s I also can say I’ve heard a lot but still discovering new bands. There is a lot of unheard music out there. They are also becoming my favourite group in whatever makeup. ❤️🤘🎸🎻🦘

One of the greatest masterpieces by the "Metal Mozart". Very glad you investigated the meaning behind the song itself and its' importance. Not every song requires dynamics to make it beyond exceptional. To me, it is just perfect in its' progression as it was written. And let's face it, Floor can deliver Tuomas's lyrics to perfection, like no other can.❤❤❤

Tuomas stated more than once Floor is capable to perform a song exactly as he invisioned it to be done. Also in the past he several times suggested that when a bandmember would leave, Nightwish would end to exist. There were a lot of changes in the lineup since, but when he said it in the case of Floor, I am sure he meant it this time.

I think there are many songs from NW, which you absolutely can listen in car, but all of these songs has it’s meaning why those were written and composed as they are. There are some songs, like ”Planet Hell” making you tapping the wheel while driving, or ” Storytime” might be a good chorus sing-a-long. Then there are some of those energy booster and happy songs with uliean pipe, like ”I want my tears back” or ”Elan”. However, most of the Nightwish music is beautiful and emotional art, which tells a message, or a story. It is definately more complex than just easy to listen, or the mainstream in general. From the latest album, and more modern type of Nightwish, a lot of people has mentioning the song called ”Tribal” is a good work out music. It is definately worth to check out 👍

Nightwish has a tendency to draw you in that for many is to much for more casual listening. Even songs like Storytime will have those arresting breaks that seem to demand attention.

Excellent reaction! This is a favorite of mine, both the song and the performance. It was written long before Floor joined the band, but she delivers it such empathy that I get immersed in it every time I watch this video. This is a very emotional and personal song for Tuomas. The small child's voice represents Tuomas inner child speaking. He is a world class poet. IMHO When asked what this song was about "Tuomas has said about this song, that it's about if he were to die tomorrow, what would he want to say to everyone that he loves, and that love him..." Notice the small boy on the screen reaching out to the flying swans on the screen. He is reaching out to implore them to take him with to the other side. In archaeological excavations done in Karelia, a child was found and its body was laying upon a wing of a swan. In Finnish mythology and folklore, the swan was the divine messenger between the living and the dead. When a swan dropped its head below the surface, people of old times believed that it was communicating to the spirit world. Killing swans was a terrible crime because it was as bad as murdering a human. Punishments for killing swans were severe, the usual penalty was death. Swan song often symbolizes an artist´s last performance but for a long time all across the world all the way to the 17th century it was believed that swans only sang when they died. A beautiful song filled with sadness from an unfulfilled destiny. "Endless Form Most Beautiful" live from Wembley is a great driving song. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y6TUpHaKp6x_hLc - 🎼 Nightwish 🎶 Shudder Before The Beautiful 🎶 Live at Wembley 2015 🔥 Remastered 🔥 I also think it may be time to check out a live performance from Floor's first band "After Forever". kzbin.info/www/bejne/qJmmZIionM14gtU - After Forever - Equally Destructive Live at Masters Of Rock (2007)

I second this recommendation. For a "completely different side" is an understatement, LOL. Let's put it this way. I've used "I Want My Tears Back" many times at the gym to pump me up and give me a boost of energy. I would NEVER try to use "Dead Boy's Poem" in such a way.

0:55 Is there an echo in here? 😅 Beautiful song, and awesome reaction. My favorite Nightwish songs? That's a tough one. They are very versatile, and Tuomas is not a one trick pony. What I will say though is, this rabbit hole is deep and entertaining, it even has a couple of side tunnels, in the form of Auri, a band Tuomas has together with his wife Johanna, and fellow Nightwish member Troy, and The Life And Times of Scrooge, a soundtrack he made for the graphic novel about the life of Scrooge McDuck, written and drawn by Don Rosa. There are some Nightwish things that you'll get a better understanding of, if you wait a little bit, until you have some more Nightwish under your belt. All The Works of Nature Which Adorn the World is such a thing, a 30 minutes masterpiece consisting of 8 tracks, it should be experienced in one go, it even comes with a fan made, Nightwish approved video, which is beautiful, and goes perfectly with the music. It is the second side of their latest album Human :II: Nature, and it's probably best to listen to the first, main side before doing the second side, at least a couple of songs, you wouldn't think that both sides are written by the same composer, Tuomas.

Best to your health! Special for an Singer, Jaw Problems are harsh. Agreed. When Art and Emotion meets Passion and Professionalism, Nightwish comes into Consideration. Your partly distanced interlectually Aproach, mostly been catched emotionally by Floors Voice somewhere in the Recap, is always like an slow, calming and very relatable Emotion:). An great positive Contrast to the loud, over the Top Reactions out there. Thx for that. I can relate to you not having Them on the Car Song Rotation. I cant think of more then an Handfull Songs from Anette Era, that are simple ear comforting good mood 4/4 timed Chorus/Verse/Chorus/Bridge/Chorus /End. So, to listen to Them can be quite much more demanding for an active Listener, as hearing the newest Taylor Swift Track. I fanboy Them since 1997 and some Tracks are just not for the hear Along , as i couldnt garantie, what Emotions they bring up, and if it would be fatal in some Situations:). Dont force Yourself into that, just, well, perhaps treat Them as an extraordinary Wine. You wont digest That from an Plastic Container during riding the Freeway all Day, you sit down an just enjoy it on the Veranda, while beeing sided by an beloved One, enjoying the Sunset. Thats the Way i see it. Stay healthy! Metalhead, Frankonia, Bavaria, Germany.

One of my top nightwish songs... I was listening this one in my teen years and I absolutelly loved it. I remember to listen to it on weekend's mornings in bed when I didn't want to get up yet. :D Of course there was Tarja a singer back then, so the song sounded a bit differently. But I still love both versions the same.
