Hello RichoPOV ! Nightwish fan here, your musical quest summoned me. Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band, performing here at Wacken Open Air (Germany) in 2013, together with Floor Jansen, the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of an 82K audience. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [The 1st Bassist of the band was Sami Vanska, he was with them until 2001. The 2nd one was Marco Hietala, as Bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least - we'll see what the future brings to us. Then very recently (May 2021) Jukka Koskinen became the 3nd Bassist of the band, for at least the Human :II: Nature tour] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I was there and still have the tshirt . Drove 6,5 hours up to Northern Germany from where I live in Belgium just to this see this headline. Almost 83000 people there The best live gig I have ever seen in my life. And I've seen a lot including Pink wfloyd, Sabbath, Iron Maiden a few times, Roses in 93 in their original lineup and Metallica and lots of others. This was better. No doubt. We left the concert in a state of trance. This was after halfway to the end through the gig. It was like that all the time for two hours solid.

I'm very jealous. And I have a question. This video is mixed very well, I'm curious if that's how it sounded live or not. Mostly the vocals, was she that forward in the mix from your perspective in the audience?

@@wallywest2360 Pretty much. Her vocals always come out really well in their live concerts, both outdoors and indoors. I've seen a few now and they get their mix tight. At Wacken 13 we were standing about halfway in that crowd, not at front at all so we had a bit more sound distortion due to the distance. Overall what you hear in the video is pretty much how it sounded live, minus the obvious louder background when you're in the crowd yourself.

@@maartencautereels1206 Thanks. I always hate going to see a group I like and the sound is just a wall of distortion and you can't hear the singer at all. Ironically the best concert I've ever been to in that regard was Metallica. It was super loud, but you could still clearly hear the lyrics.

Welcome to NW RichoPOV, you finally met our 6ft Queen Floor Jansen (Dutch) 3rd and current frontwoman of the Finnish Metalband NW. She is incredible. 10 Months earlier she came as a substitute for Anette Olzon, who became sick in the middle of a world tour and had to go to the hospital. NW called Floor and she said yes. She had to learn the setlist in 48 hours (there is a documentary about that) and did this on the flight from the Netherlands to Salt Lake City, where she joined the band on their way to Seattle for the next concert. GLS wasn't even on the list, but because she loved this song so much, NW put it on the list, with as result 10 months later at Wacken 2013 this MASTERTPIECE. When she belt so high we call that a FLOORGASM. Congrats with your first one. I was at this particular show as Wacken used to be my go-to festival. I remember it being very intimate (despite the huge crowd size). The feeling of everyone coming together for a single reason brings with it a huge feeling of comradery which is true for the entire festival. It was a blast, seeing Floor as the nightwish-singer for the first time was a big deal and she did an absolute stellar job, same goes for the rest of the band. Floor brings with her the spirit of what Nightwish is supposed to be (for me at least) and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to stunning renditions of Nightwish olden goldies.

Agreed. This is the only band I've ever heard that I NEVER get tired of hearing. I have literally listened to them at least 350 out of 365 days a year for over 20 years. Almost every time I hear a song again, I notice something I'd missed before.

Great reaction. Floor Jansen is a vocal athlete with incredible range, versatility, vocal stamina, and stage presence. She is a spinto soprano with a range of around four octaves +. When listening to Floor sing, it is apparent that she has spent the better part of her life fine-tuning her instrument with help from several vocal coaches. Floor can sing in multiple languages and genres, and is a Master vocal coach. She often refers to herself as a vocal nerd. It is incredible how she is able to take any song from any genre and make it her own. This woman is a true gift to her craft and an incredible addition to a band that has always been great until 2013 when they officially hired the undisputed Queen of Metal, Floor Jansen, making Nightwish the greatest band on the planet. welcome to the fantastic symphonic metal universe of Nightwish Band, their live performances are some of the things that come so close to epic that they get to be mythical and of course Floor Jansen, queen of the stage and goddess of music, she can sing anything in any musical style she wants (WARNING! her voice, her stage presence, her charisma, in one word: her "spell" is highly addictive). this concert (wacken 2013) is incredibly epic and deserves to be watched and reacted entirely, song by song, in particular I suggest these three songs: "song of myself", "storytime" and "ever dream" this performance of "ghost love score" is one of the three best performances of the nightwish band, together with "the poet and the pendulum" from 2015 concert at the london wembley arena and "the greatest show on earth" from 2015 concert in tampere - finland (actually there is a fourth best performance: "dead boy's poem" from the 2018 concert in buenos aires).

One of the best live performances ever! No matter how many times i watch it it's still magical. So, Wacken is actually a small german town that just happens to hold europe's biggest metal festival. The whole town actually gets involved with festival activities (like renting out rooms or parts of their yards to set up tents, others cook and bake and sell it to the visitors etc) and traditionally, the opening act of Wacken Festival is the local brass band.

Let's just say that ALL Nightwish concerts feels like "the once in a lifetime experience" - every concert creates this feeling. Nightwish have unique communication with the crowd - "we are all in here - together we create this". It is completely insane. It does not matter if there are 800 or 80.000 in the crowd - you just feels a part of it. All their music are composed - not written. Floor is telling the stories - and dragging you in, to be a part of the stories. And the stories are deep, and built in layers - built to be individual and personal interpreted, without loosing the red line in the stories... Floor Jansen the Queen of metal ❤️is a classically trained and a professional voice coach with at least 20 years experience and can do anything from death metal growling to high opera notes and different styles and languages, her previous bands After Forever, Northward and Revamp and she was also featured in several Ayreon performances and a Dutch reality show beste zangers in 2019, and 2021, she is married to the drummer of the band Sabaton, awesome

If I had the ability to travel in time I would go to this concert. I wish I could have seen it live. Floor is amazing, as is every member of this band. Tuomas (the keyboard player) is the one that writes most of the music and he is brilliant. But Floor just brings great songs to a whole new level. Be prepared for the Nightwish amry to come marching in. Hope you will go down this rabbit hole because there are so many great Nightwish songs for you to discover. I would recommend also to check out romanticide (live at Wacken) or Everdream (same concert) because you also have to see Marko the bassplayer sing. He has an amazing voice too.

NW Army Bavaria North - jop, i were there with 3 other Friends of mine- still got Goosebombs, when seeing that. Although, best Emotional Trip were End of an Aera, never will forget that one, but that was back in early 2000s with the First Vocalist, and i 100% do very big glorifying it in the Corner of my Brain, reserved for Nightwish. You know, hard to believe, that there are still so many ppl that havent seen or heard of our beloved Band, nowadays YT batters you with it, sure also an Fault of ourself promoting it persitent in any way:) I take you for real and authentic, and i am happy, that another one is flashed , of what the Guys and Floor delivers , special on an Stage that Size. If I would have, I would have owned their CDs. & DVD's! Gotta dig it man, Floor is.... just wow, everything... LoL. She can sing in a way that is just so emotionally moving at times, I'm a 44 year old man that isn't exactly known for showing emotion, much less shedding any tears.... yet she has made me weap with both soaring joy, and devastated despair... since I discovered this group around 3 years ago my man. Incredible stuff.
