Originally Floor was sent by Allfather Odhinn to Midgard to gather the souls of fallen warriors to Valhalla, but she got distracted and joined a series of bands. However, Floor still gathers souls by her grace, beauty and the sheer power of her vocals. We give thanks for her at our Blots regularly and hope that Odhinn won't notice that she has never returned to Asgard. ALL HAIL THE VALKYRIE GODDESS!!! The Nightwish Army is incoming! You're not ready! Nightwish Army Gulf Coast Florida Black Company reporting for duty!

Floor wanted to change the not very satisfying end of this song and in BA 2012 you can hear the difference with the original Tarja version. The size of the Wacken 2013 audience was intimidating (+80000 people), but she showed to perform best under very high pressure (10 month with the band) and set a standard for all later versions of GLS. The sound of her voice in this song is a bit melancholic and mystical, making it the most valued version (Islanders Arms version is also great).

Hello Mathias, greetings from UK Thank you for checking out this version. Although not long after the version you previously watched it is obvious that Floor felt more at ease here and had perfected the sound she wanted to deliver I look forward to your next reaction 😊

They're pirates. The song was written in 2003 when the first part of Pirates of the Caribbean was in the cinema. She has only been involved with the version from Argentina for a few weeks. Here it is 10 months. Officially she is still the temporary helper, but a permanent collaboration has already been agreed within the band.

"she seems more at ease". Agreed. By the time of this show, Floor had been with the band for 10 months and performed over 40 shows with them. The previous performance you watched, she had only been with the band 2 months, but that doesn't mean she wasn't an experienced vocalist. By the time she joined Nightwish, she had already been the front-woman for two other metal bands, totaling 15 years of experience. So, she was already a seasoned vocalist and stage performer. However, Wacken 2013 was by far the biggest show she had done up until that point in her career and she has said she was nervous before the show. Well, she definitely got over it before the first song, "Dark Check of Wonders". This song here, "Ghost Love Score", was the 13th of 15 songs in the set that night and she hit ever one of them out of the park, even though none of them had been written for her. Anything Floor touches turns to gold.

Many people have noted similarities between parts of this song and the score from Pirates of the Caribbean. That makes sense. Klaus Badelt composed the score for that movie, but he had help. Most notably from Hans Zimmer and other composers at his studio. Tuomas Holopainen (keyboards), the writer and composer of "Ghost Love Score" (as well as most Nightwish songs), is a big fan of Hans Zimmer's work. The movie was released in July of 2003. The album "Once" containing "Ghost Love Score" was released a year later. So it is conceivable and entirely reasonable that the movie score influenced this song's composition. There is history of Nightwish performing Hanz Zimmer. There is an instrumental song from their December 2000 show "From Wishes to Eternity" entitled "Crimson Tide / Deep Blue Sea". The score for the 1995 movie "Crimson Tide" was composed by Hans Zimmer.

Enjoyed your reaction! If you are looking for true pirate metal then you should checkout Visions of Atlantis. They are an Austrian symphonic metal band that uses pirate theme's in their music and videos and has as it's female lead singer Clémentine Delauney and Michele Guaitoli as it's male lead singer. Melancholy Angel is probably my favorite track. For more of a fantasy vibe you should checkout Dark Side of the Moon. They are a symphonic metal supergroup composed of members from Ad Infinitum, Feuerschwanz, and Amaranthe. Born out of a bet, they do metal covers of songs from fantasy movies as well as some original music in the same style. Checkout their cover of Jenny of Oldstones from Game of Thrones, Let it Be from Lord of the Rings, and Double Trouble/Hedwigs Theme which is a metal version of the Harry Potters theme. Another project that taps into the Tolkien world is Eye of Melian. A side project of Martijn Westerholt, keyboardist and leader of the symphonic metal band Delain, it's music is highly influenced by fantasy movie-score music and Tolkien-type and other fantasy lyrical themes. Other members include Johanna Kurkela on vocals (she is Tuomas Holopainen's of Nightwish's wife) and their lyricist is a Professor that specializes in Tolkien literature. .Their song Doorway of the Night is directly inspired by the Two Trees of Valinor legend from the Simllarion, where Telperion, the Silver Tree, is transformed into the Moon. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmisfqB3o9OjnpIsi=VuK_rs4LktPxsZKp. A couple of my favorites from the album are Vita Nova, The Bell, Everstrong, and Light.

Hi Mathias, i loved to see your reaction video of Nightwish. For me they are the best band in the world 😍 I also have another recommendation for you. If you like surprises and prog music, then try this masterpiece of our Dutch genius Arjen Anthony Lucassen with 11 awesome singers (I won't spoil who they are, but i think you will recognize some of them 😉): Ayreon - The Day That The World Breaks Down. Here is the link to the video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pXfYfn6ap9-Dp7c You will be blown away by all the talented musicians and singers! You won't be dissappointed....I PROMISE! Hope to see your reaction to this masterpiece soon and for now....Greetings, stay safe and lots of love from The Netherlands, Martin.

Still a bit of American pronunciation of the name Floor Jansen, Dutch surname sounds more like Yahnsen. Maybe in UK that is easier than in USA, for instance with pronunciation of the word dancing or basking, or the a sound in the word what. Or in German, the a in Jansen sounds like the a in Hamburg.
