This is the line-up of Nightwish, an Echo-winning band from Kitee, Finland, formed in 1996 by songwriter/keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen, guitarist Emppu Vuorinen, and former vocalist Tarja Turunen. Nightwish is Finland's most successful band with more than 7 million sold albums worldwide, 1 silver award, 11 gold awards and 30 platinum awards.
Although Nightwish has been prominent in their home country since the release of their first single, “The Carpenter” (1997) and debut album Angels Fall First, they did not achieve worldwide fame until the release of the albums Oceanborn, Wishmaster and Century Child, which were released in 1998, 2000 and 2002 respectively. Their 2004 album, Once, which has sold more than 1.2 million copies,[1] led to Nightwish video clips being shown on MTV in the United States and inclusion of their music in US movie soundtracks. Their biggest US hit single, “Wish I Had an Angel” (2004), made it onto three US film soundtracks as a means to promote their North American tour.[2] The band produced three more singles and two music videos for the album, as well as “Sleeping Sun”, from the 2005 “best of” compilation album, Highest Hopes, prior to vocalist Tarja Turunen’s dismissal.
In May 2007, former Alyson Avenue frontwoman, Anette Olzon, was revealed as Turunen’s replacement,[3] and in the autumn, the band released a new album - Dark Passion Play, which has sold more than 1.5 million copies.[4] The supporting tour started on October 6, 2007 and ended on September 19, 2009.[5][6] A new E.P./live album, Made in Hong Kong (And in Various Other Places), was released in March 2009 as a MCD/DVD.
Nightwish has received eleven awards from both the Emma-gaala Awards, from thirteen nominations,[7][8][9] and one Echo Awards from two nominations. Nightwish has also received 2 nominations from the Metal Hammer Golden God Awards but has not received an award; Nightwish already won awards from MTV Europe Music Awards[10] and from World Music Awards.[7]

I like how Nightwish has risen above conventional genre thinking. They don’t just represent one or two styles. And as Tuomas said in an interview, he doesn’t like genre thinking. It's limiting him too much. And that’s what we hear as Nightwish rises above the different styles and slides freely between them. It's a style of its own, Nightwish genre or Nightwish metal or Intelligent metal (see the lyrics of this song too ..., not the easiest)

The way the video is made really makes you think it's over. That's one of the reasons why I actually prefer the Wembley version. Sure Tampare has amazingingly timed fireworks but Wembley's special guest at the very end makes it impossible to miss. And also the video screens are better visible which really adds to the whole experience. Because there is perfect timing there too. You should definitely check it out on your own time. 😊

Veteran subscriber from Maryland here! Favorite "good" food has to be snow crab legs, favorite comfort food is a toss-up between grilled cheese on rye and macaroni and cheese (the boxed junk, mind, not made-from-scratch), and my least-favorite food is liver and onions. If you didn't catch it, there's a bit of a history of music lesson in this song along with everything else. Starting around 14:30 (exact time depending on which video you're watching) you can hear Gregorian chant (I think, some sort of chanting, anyway), followed by a minuet on a harpsichord, a bit of Bach's Toccata and Fugue in Dm, a bluegrass banjo riff, and then the Enter Sandman riff followed by a little EDM beat.

My favorite part is The Toolmaker (you though it sounded tribal). Did you catch the beginning of the final part when Tuomas played the melody from "Toccata en Fugue in d minor" by Bach and the at the end Emppu played 2 riffs of "Enter Sandman" by Metallica. This was Tuomas paying tribute to the evolution of music from classical to metal. The evolution of our solar system, Earth, and all of life. Life is The Greatest Show on Earth! I feel a bit silly tbh😊, I've seen this a million times but I got a little wobbly emotionally in places - maybe knowing your current circumstances was a factor too. But thanks again, you say it's great therapy for you, but it's also therapy for a lot of us, seeing it put such a smile on your face - Nightwish and Babymetal do that for me all the time! Can I just thank you for probably being one of the first reactors to stop the video for Floor's super sassy head movement! As far as food is concerned - Anchovies 🤢 and most favourite is a dessert which in the UK we call Jam Roly Poly which is a suet based pudding that has jam inside accompanied with hot custard!!😋 Keep up the good work!

Sadly it seems his belief in life, in evolution stops there, in his otherwise so observant and wise words. Life doesn't tend to return to the prior state. I see it more that like we came to this world from our mother's womb, the evolution took us one step to a higher state of living. And we changed a lot when we were born: eyes and ears opened, we ejected water from our lungs and started to breathe air. We learned to walk, our hands learn(ed) skills - our brains grew and are learning new things. The same way we're going to change when we are going to die and go to Heaven - if we participate in that. But just like many semen, maternal cells, pollen etc. never produce new life, so some don't want to participate to the new life at the next state. Some turn down God's invitation to continue life in the Heavens, to evolve. Once again our eyes and ears will open there to perceive more. We won't need oxygen for our lungs anymore. We will learn to move like angels, not relying only on our legs. Our hands will sure be more skillful, as our brains will open to more - after all, we don't use 100 % of their capacity yet. It's as if they're meant to evolve yet. Some people who have gone through a near death experience, have seen like a tunnel, often called wormhole, which they went through. Well, it's as if we go through a type of birth channel again.

Disappointed to that, next generations pulled to the extremes, bringing tribal segregation. But life is one. And would like us to be one. But in the end, it's not a philosophical issue (though that can be included). God can me met, that's why there's prayer. And a kid can make the connection, it's not reserved for the intellectuals only. That would be elitism, but life belongs to everyone.

So no indoctrination, no brainwashing - it's liberation from those. It helps when some sect tries to 'own' it, and say they 'got it all' now. It can be religious, or scientific gang. Science handles with such different things that what Bible is concerned about. Science defines the universe where are senses detect something. It deals with the tangibles. In Bible perspective it deals with our sandbox where we live from cradle to coffin. Our childhood time. God's Kingdom is metaphysical. Angels are all around us all the time. Our eyes can open to see them - Bible mentions it especially when Jerusalem was sieged, the prophet Elisha asked God to show a fearful Israeli soldier that there was a Heavenly army around them. That soldier saw them, they won to siege. But the soldier didn't see them for the rest of his life. It's easier for us not to see the metaphysical all the time. Oh, and if you say that's an old story, Finnish war vets told stories of seeing angels in the front (when the whole nation prayed like they meant it in the church, fearing occupation), and surviving with tehir advice, like one guy avoided a grenade in a path. These were in Apu or Seura magazine in the 90's. Yeah, God is not an old dude on the cloud edge. That's why shouldn't draw such pictures. And going to the Heavens is not going 'up' in relation to our planet, the ground. It's like when the kid was born here, coming out of the womb, it came to the next state of life. It didn't return to the prior state.
