Travel to anyplace you've never been before is always a great idea. Nightwish is just the icing on the cake. Go for it.

This song is really deep. As I understand it: We, humans, are the harvest. And before we die (before going back to one single grain), we need to inspire the new generation, and live our lives to a full potential (water the fields) before surrendering to the earth. And Arrive Alive in the end I think means that you need to live your life in fullest (be really alive) before arriving to your last moment, to the Harvest.

Nightwish is originaly from Kitee, Eastern Finland. Near Russian border. Its lake region with large forrests and hills. There is very beautiful in summer, green woods and blue lakes. Lots of snow in winter. I think that you will love that region. In Finland almost everyone speaks or at least understand English so its very easy to travel here. Wellcome.

Enjoyed your reaction & analysis. Having watched many others react to this song & read many comments on those other YT channels, I think this song is probably not for the casual listener seeking immediate gratification, but for those willing to devote some effort & multiple listens to really appreciate the music & lyrics. Like any great poetry, Tuomas' lyrics are open to many interpretations. For me this song is a message from death to us humans. It contains a reminder that death inevitably waits for us all (i.e. we are death's harvest), but also advice on how to live our lives to the fullest ("Offer light to the coming day") taking care of one another, our children and planet for generations to come ("Inspire a child", "Water the field"). These few hints will hopefully aid in understanding the lyrics better: 1. A tiny valorous straw = a newborn baby 2. Facing to the sun = looking forward to life 3. The quaternary code = a structure shared by all DNA 4. The strange peace of storm hovers over crops = death is always present 5. All going back to one single grain = all life goes back to earth in death 6. They have beauty beyond all poetry = life has so much to offer to us 7. But choose a silent misery = ignoring what life has to offer / not living to ones full potential 8. The deeper their sea, the less remains = the more one gets self-absorbed, the less s/he can give/share with others 9. a carousal of dare = a festival of life for those brave enough 10. Arrive alive = make sure that you have enjoyed life to the fullest before you arrive at death P.S. It could also be that the 5 crosses that one sees in the lyrics video refer to the five stages of man's life: conception, birth, life, death & decomposition. Others have also interpreted them as the other five members of Nightwish among whom Troy walks in the video, although why would just Troy be alive & the others dead? P.S.S. It also helps to know that in one interview Tuomas told that this song is "Nightwish smiling at death".

This has been a little controversial song. Some metal purists don't like it because it's quite a mellow folk song and Troy's in the lead instead of Queen Floor (don't get me wrong, she's my queen too). I like this Celtic Anthem very much. The tone is upbeating but the lyrics are quite dark. Troy's voice is perfect to this type of material. Immensely good harmonies with Floor and Marko, even a cappella in the beginning. Very energetic instrumental section with uillean pipe and tin whistles (clesr Jethro Tull vibe to me). The album is very versatile and out of genre limitations.

Be careful with lyrics. Understanding can hit hard:-) Troy explains it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bnbRp6OIm9iHhqc
