@@023achilles I felt that way for several years, I just didn't want to listen to the older studio albums after hearing Floor's versions of the older stuff, but.... I bought the From Wishes To Eternity and End of An Era shows on Blu-ray/DVD and found new appreciation for Tarja (especially from watching FWTE a few times). Floor is my unquestioned favorite and the perfect singer for Nightwish, both for her voice from a technical aspect, and her artistry (how she uses her amazing instrument), but Tarja was awesome too and deserves much love from Nightwish fans. Annette had her moments as well, and her version of Slow Love Slow is still my favorite.

Yeah, of course you're right about Marco. But they are a really small band and tour only in Finland so it's not as much of a hassle as with Floor. Same with Emppu and Brother Firetribe. But all worries aside, apparently they overcame those problems cause she's in the band now :)

He hints very well , Annette didn’t want temporary replacements including Eliz and Alissa in Denver and she admits that even if she would accept a temp replacement, she feared Floor would definitely outshine her. Let’s be honest , Floor did outshine her . Annette may have been difficult but she knew the facts on her tenure was in trouble . Tuomas’s point of view is that the cliche “Show must go on”.

Tuomas is quite the interesting fellow. I can never tell what he's thinking during these interviews. I feel like we only ever see his true emotions and thoughts in his music/lyrics. A lot of people like to paint him as an petty evil dictator who enjoys manipulating the band members, but I have a hard time believing that. But at the same time I can see how he can come off as strange or intimidating. Then again we don't know how he acts off camera behind the scenes with the rest of the band. I just honestly can't read his facial expressions or behavior haha. Anyway I'm just rambling. Hopefully Floor stays with Nightwish for a good many years :) Here's to a new era \m/

When break-ups happen, sympathy is on the side of person who got kicked out. And easily you sympathize with the girl when the other side is a bunch of boys (well, men). To me it was the band that fired Tarja, all togeher, not just Tuomas. In fact he went in a bad depression as is known by now. The depressions is, as is "The Poet and the Pendulum", Tuomas' love note to Tarja. Yes they felt they had different values at THAT point, that Tarja (or her husband) got more interested of the possibilities of Tarja's solo career, which resulted Tarja's diminished time with the band. But looking at their song lyrics, the poetry, their celebration of compassion and all life, dislike of greed, I don't think Tuomas or the band is evil people.

I am the opposite. I thought he seemed like a very nice and intelligent guy. Everyone seems to sympathize with him also. But after watching the documentary, and thinking of all the other pieces of evidence of the way that they treated their singers, I no longer think he such a good guy. There is no denying Tuomas is a musical genius. But you cannot tune a human being (much), so you have to work with the human voice you can find. Floor seems both grateful for the opportunity and rightfully proud of her abilities. I hope they choose to get along and see the beauty of the band and the girl, and not see either as eclipsing the other. Music is both the imagining of the emotion (Tuomas) and the channeling of that emotion (the band...and Floor).

Anette is a basic singer with no special talent and no extra features to her voice...she was no improvement to the band whatsoever. Floor on the other hand can sing both classical and 'normal'. her voice range is remarkable, she's trained enormously and she can switch live, from singing classical to 'normal.' now you should tell me; how many people have you seen, who can pull such a thing of??

On paper, and judging from recent tour performances, Floor and Nightwish are THE perfect match. Nightwish needs a strong vocalist with a good range, epic intensity and stage presence - which Floor has - and Floor needs a brilliant composer and popular band to front (she loves performing to big audiences) - which Nightwish has. The only thing that remains to be seen is whether Floor and the NW boys get on well and find they have a spark/personal chemistry together! Fingers crossed.

Interesting to read some comments about Tuomas,and his emotions/expressions. One short answer made me smile and laugh abit though. "Its just cause hes Finnish". I have actually talked with numberous Finnish people,who agreed upon the same thing. They thought of theyr own kind (Finnish people) as somewhat cold on the outside,might come off as cold people in public. But if you take the time to get to know them,they blossom with emotions and expressions. As a Nordic brother of Tuomas and Finnish people,i can truly relate. Many has stated that it can be of the clima/weather we have in most parts of the Nordic countries. A long,hard winter,a extremely short spring,a short summer,then abit longer fall,before the much longer winter again. Some actually never experiences true summer,as it goes from straight over from signs of spring,to fall again. It all depends on where you live,within each Nordic country. Also,i have learned to know Tuomas through media,as a rather uncomfortable person in the spotlights. He prefers smaller clubs,venues to play in,above huge stadiums/arenas they sell out. Most in the band might feel the same. And he comes off very humble,doesnt like to talk about himself too much. But rather focus on the other members if asked,or focus on Nightwish as a whole,rather then individuals.

However, there are songs that I like more with Tarja's voice, and there are also songs that I like most with Anette's voice. But for anything live and most of the NW content, I like Floors voice the most. She is just so good at everything.I have hard time imagining Tarja "singing" those growl voices in Yours is an empty hope, etc, and Floor really made Ghost love Score marvellous. In addition, Floor really can work the crowd from stage. But anyways, what I'm trying to say here (I think) is that from fan perspective, I think we are kinda spoiled to have up to three (!) great official versions of many of the songs. Each can pick and choose the versions they like best. All of the singers were great. I know Anette is dissed more, but she is really good on some of the songs (from the era when Tuomas made songs for her voice).

I read an interesting article about how Tarja's departure introduced a growth in Tuomas' writing that was held back by her very specific style of vocals. I think most people who are thinking objectively can see that Floor is an exceptionally talented vocalist and Nightwish could only benefit from having her as a permanent member. It feels like she's gonna stay, but the part that makes it seem unlikely is that Floor generally writes her own lyrics and is definitely involved in the songwriting, whereas Tuomas has said himself that he doesn't want anyone else to write lyrics in the band. Being swedish like Anette should make me angry about Floor Jansens overtaking of the vocals in Nightwish but I´m not. Anette had an ok voice pitchwise but weak expression both on the stage visually and dynamicly with the voice. Metal needs exiting expressive vocals and Floor delivers that while Anette don´t.

Because she is FLOOR FREAKING JANSEN AF were one of the biggest names - and one of the very few female fronted bands, that were highly accepted from the fans of other metal ganres, besides sypho. She had worked with such freaks as Arjen Lucassen and Devin Townsend; had sung with singers like Russell Allen, Doro... Singing "like Tarja and Anette" is 1/10 of what she can do. Hope Tuomas will use all the capacy of her voice, because he would be idiot if not.

a lot of people still grieve over Tarja, but Nightwish wasn't just Tarja alone. Anette was ok but a band like this requires a stronger voice, and Floor is absolutely amazing! AND most importantly she suits their music, she can carry the songs both old and new and she simply fits in, she has a powerful appearance too. Now again they sound their best live, Floor may be the best thing that happened to them!

I believe the problems with many rockers like you is that you drown in your own stereotypes. You are not capable of accepting not all symphonic rock needs an operatic soprano voice, just as some rockers are not capable of accepting women at all, and for them all pop, all electronic and everything that is not what they think is wrong. Fans of other genres open up much more to different stuff. All of you think you are alternative and different but you are narrow-minded and stereotypical.

Actually, just because they make music that is publically available doesn't mean they OWE anyone anything. They don't HAVE to speak about personal matters like the reasons for why it happened. We can only speculate about what really happened, but it won't do any good or change anything. I am not that sad to see Anette out of Nightwish TBH. She was OK, but no Tarja... and Floor is a better replacement than Anette was so I hope they pick her as their new lead singer - if she wants to of course.

who said I was a Rock fan? read my comment, I never said anythin about Tarja, I was referring to how better is Nightwish without Anette and how much the performances have improved with Floor, don't cheat yourself, Anette sucked live, don't believe me? watch her live versions of Everdream, Dark Chest Of Wonders and Nemo, they even had to make an accoustic version just so she could sing it, with Floor they can now perform the album version and it sounds perfect, Nightwish is back, Thanks to Floor

Valid point for a change. He over corrected. To me, Nightwish is Nightwish. The band is more than just Tarja and Anette. Nightwish with Tarja was a perfect sound, but Anette was still brilliant. If Floor replaces Anette, good on her. I saw them live, with Floor, and it is the greatest thing I have ever experienced.

And then Tuomas came to his senses and realised what a mistake he'd made to replace a proper singer (Tarja) with such a weak singer (Anette), which instantly cut down the choice of songs they could do live by about 80%!! and he brought in the best female singer in the World, Floor.

Well, I'm glad she left. Not because I dislike her voice, I am afraid of the harm caused to her by trying on Tarja's songs that were way out of her range. I'm glad that she can now focous on songs that are in her range, and she can comforatably sing.

But the band is the entire band, not just the vocalist. Neither Tarja NOR Anette made Nightwish, and neither will Floor. Nightwish IS the guys/the whole band.

What was with that interviewer? Tuomas said he didn't want to discuss the Anette situation and the guy proceeds to ask another question about it. Big mistake, man. You never want to make your guests feel uncomfortable or irrtate them in any way. That's a mistake a rookie would make. Anyway, Floor would be an ideal fit for Nightwish. Her vocals are a combination of Anette and Tarja. She can sing normally AND operatically. That's a gift not found in many people. I wouldn't mind her staying.
