Old Nightwish Fan who didn't even know there was a new singer since Annette! Poet and Pendulum is my third experience with Floor now - see my last two reactions on my channel!
Re-Upload - Sorry if you commented on it in the first half hour as someone pointed out a bad editing error where I lost sync at the end. Fixed and re-uploaded!
Sorry about the pauses and all the talking I just didn't want to get hit by copyright!! Videos should come sooner as I get the webcam and can streamline recording in OBS rather than syncing 3 sources.
I do not own any of the music in this video as it is all owned by Nightwish!

When I listen to this song with Anette, it’s like ‘Ah, yes, Tuomas and his melodrama, what an amazing song though’ whereas with Floor it becomes ‘Oh my god listen to the pain this man has poured out, what a masterpiece of a song’. It’s such a good performance and I’m forever grateful that they’ve released this live version.

Well now you have to finish up the reaction trilogy with "Greatest show on Earth". When you've done that, you are hereby allowed to go binge on all the Nightwish with Floor concerts that your heart desires ;-). I love the emotion of this piece as a whole, but what always get me is the end. With the musicians playing that haunting ostinato and Floor singing those 3 phrases. There is so much longing in those few seconds of musical genius of Tuomas' writing and the band's ability to play/sing.

Vocalists are basically actors and actresses. They convey emotions through their performance. And I think that is one of Floors biggest strengths. It feels like she always gets the tone of the song and the emotion right. And I do agree with you that the band as a group seem to enjoy performing together as a group more than ever before. The dynamic is excellent.

I just want to take a moment to recognize Ann Waychoff. We were notified of her passing on 6/29/2020. Originally I posted this under her comment on Song of Myself as it was one of her favorite songs. You can find comments just like this one full of positivity, love, and friendship on nearly EVERY SINGLE reaction video up until medical issues progressed recently. When I started this channel it was based off a user comment on another video. I released my first reaction video to GLS and that's where I got my first comment from Ann. She's been here on almost every video since and always felt like one of my biggest supporters. I'm another who has used the power of Nightwish to get me through many tough times with their emotional and powerful music. As Nightwish fans let us acknowledge Ann Waychoff's passing in proper Nightwish fashion. My meaning here is to celebrate her life as the journey and celebrate the joy she brought and spread. Her dedication to Nightwish and their music/message and her work to bring that joy to so many others was inspiring. Watch for a special reaction video coming soon for Ann: "At the end of the river the sundown beams All the relics of a life long lived Here, weary traveler rest your wand Sleep the journey from your eyes" Until next time Ann, We were here!

Floor's ability to arouse emotion, in me anyway, is unparalleled, she's brought me to tears on many occasion. I'm 66 and not much gets through the walls anymore, but her voice does. Her tones are so warm and her voice is natural and unaffected. Everything in music is about tone, and she is a master.Maybe react to Nemo from Wacken, hardly anybody has, but it's agreat demonstration of her power mid voice, really kicks my ass I'm feel so blessed that I get to occupy the same space-time coordinate with her, we are hearing a voice for the ages. And yet again - wonderful and accurate reaction! ♥ (I'm already looking forward to all of your other NW videos, will continue tomorrow I guess :D) I totally agree with you on Floor bringing more emotion to the song and getting it across much more like the song is supposed to feel, unlike Anette despite TPATP still being one of Anette's best songs singing-wise. (By the way, thank you for still appreciating Anette as a good singer in at least some of her songs, imho she doesn't deserve all the hate she gets so I'm always glad to see opinions different from that... Ofc she's not a classical trained singer like Tarja and Floor, but in her own style she is still very talented. It is, for sure, arguable if her singing style and voice colour fits in with Nightwish's overall style, but this is another topic to discuss and doesn't automatically make her a "bad singer"... "like a different song" like you said, nails it though.) Floor's stage presence is incredible, right?? I always feel blown away when watching her, no matter what she is performing, or in what kinda setting, etc... Therefore, "dancing in your chair" is a very, VERY relatable mood when it comes to watching Nightwish shows with Floor, haha! I liked a lot how you are talking about everyone in the band and your words of appreciation for Kai were wonderful. I love Floor, but sometimes I get a bit sad that many people somewhat "overlook" the other members... So, thank you for being careful about this! ♥ Another thing I rarely hear in reactions, which I still find an important detail, is how well Floor and Marco's voices blend in. So, thank you again, for also talking about that!! Last but not least, I would like to say I agree with the "band performs better with Floor, energized" part! It is totally true... I think the most intense difference (for understandable reasons ofc...) is the band's interpersonal dynamics on the "End of an Era" and the Wacken 2013 DVD... You can easily tell how good Floor's positive energy is for all of them, and how much more "healthy" their entire presence feels. (It is hard to put this into words as it is just something I "feel" when watching their shows, but I hope you still get what I mean...!)

I think it is because there is no more tension in the band. Everybody seems to be more relaxed than before. Maybe it has something to do with increased confidence knowing that Floor is such a good singer and she is fully embraced by the fan base. But it also has something to do with the fact that Floor is such a nice and humble personality. I think it makes the band spirit so much better and that really shows off in their performance. Instead of looking like a bunch of session musicians playing together with a singer, the band now looks more like a team.

I think you have hit the nail on the head with one of your comments. The band DO seem to play better with Floor, and I believe it is because they have supreme trust in her abilities. I got the impression that with Anette, the band were never sure that she was going to hit any of the high notes. Her propensity to move around the melody line with lower descanted notes really annoyed me, as did her lounge-bar style of adding-in 'ad-libbed' endings. If you listen to many of the live performances between 2007-2011, Tuomas has had to augment many of the choruses with pre-recorded choral backing tracks to bolster Anette's much weaker 'concert' voice. 'The Greatest Show on Earth' is now your next destination. I know the song is new to you, and it features (for you) the first time you will have seen Troy Donockley. It showcases the new direction the band are taking. I look forward to watching your reaction with interest. Take care chap.

Tarja had the benefit of singing songs that were written for her and her alone. Anette did well on the songs Tuomas wrote with her in mind, but she struggled with the songs from the Tarja era, especially in live settings. Her voice just wasn't built for that and the band seemed very limited, which probably was reflected in the band's stress level at the time. I think when they let Anette go, this was part of the reason. She kind of held them back, but it wasn't like she was malicious about it. It just didn't work. Now Floor is just so dynamic and gifted that she can sing songs from both the Tarja and Anette eras, adding her own spin to them, and now Tuomas has in her a vocalist who can handle anything he can dream up. It really is a perfect combination for the whole band and their resurgence since Floor was brought on is no fluke. Great job on your reviews, man. I know I am coming to these half a year late, but it's great to see reactions with your perspective. I was in a similar position. I discovered Nightwish around the time Once was released and I kind of fell away on my own after Anette left the band. I knew about Floor's hiring but I just wasn't listening until I started seeing GLS reactions, then my eyes were re-opened. She's now my favorite vocalist of all.

Good reaction there, you really are enjoying this rediscovery of the band. I seem to be stuck in Nightwish reactions for quite a while now and reactions was actually the way I discovered Nightwish. I knew they existed, sort of knew Tarja was out but no clue what happened after and certainly not that Floor was part of the band. Such a shame but, what a joy discovering it. The band as a whole just works and Floor... It's like she is living it like an actor becoming the character. Facial expression, hand gestures, body posture and so on. She's living the songs and that's adding so much to the experience. Enjoy your journey. Recommendations from my side: Song of Myself & Storytime (Wacken 2013) and When Your Lips Are Still Red (Wembley 2015)

There's other version of this song from other live show with Floor. At that version at the end of the song Marco, Emppu and Tuomas do fist bumps\bro-fist. And it so cool to see that they're so good friends

Nightwish was really lucky with Kai. He used to teach Jukka in some aspects. And we all know how a drummer is an iconic component to the sound of a band. Having been able to replace a drummer with someone who comes in part from the same place makes it so much easier to keep your identity. It's like getting a car engine from the same factory. A different model, but all the nuts and bolts are where they're supposed to be.

It used to be Jukka's energy that I enjoyed watching, still miss him (no knock on kai he is amazing), now the energy they all have with Floor in the line up, the band looks revitalized. Now this isnt confirmed, but from what i have heard this was one of the first concerts Tuomas left his ear monitors on for during poet and the pendulum. Thats why you see Empuu come over and check on him at the begining and why both he and marko stand by him at the end, to show him support.

Let it out man, tough guys, young, old, it doesn't matter man, Floor grabs your soul and emotions and can drag it out of you no matter if it is Romaticide or this song she just is a master of her craft.

unfortunately she's back in Finland until June, but I'll def introduce her to the channel around then to get her involved. Maybe even might just do one via discord together, who knows :)

Hello hello hello hello. This song goes what I supposed to. And you are right floor is the perfect fit for this song.I don't know why but this song this time hit me really hard and I also had tears in my eyes. Anyways I'm glad you are doing better and I'm really enjoying your interpretation and comments to the song. There are three signs that you need to do now. You have to do empty hope what she does on the cruise and the greatest show and last but not least sleeping sun. So keep on keepin on

You nailed it. Floor brings emotion, anger and power which this song represents since it's about depression. Tony Kakko actually took Tuomas hiking to get him away from all the Tarja stuff going on and after that came this song.
