Floor was touring with Nightwish in 2002 with her band 'After Forever' through Europe as a support act. Since that time Floor and Tarja became good friends.

Keep in mind, Wolfman, that this is showing the US tour, which is why the venues were smaller. They STILL play smaller venues in the US than they play elsewhere. They knew Floor because her first band After Forever had previously toured Europe opening for Nightwish, and the two bands shared a lot of the same fan base. Plus, her second band (reVamp) was very active on the European festival circuit. Floor was a very well known figure in symphonic metal, especially in Europe, long before she joined Nightwish.

The documentary started with the breakup then reverted back to the beginning to lead up to the Floor coming in. The total tour was 572 days long . The rumors are when Anette found out it was Floor to fill in she said F it and quit .

I heard she said, "Floor? Of fuck. I guess I'm done". She was pissed off but she couldn't tour in South America, Asia and Australia because of the pregnancy. She kind of screwed herself by getting pregnant.

Yeesh! That is still the size venues they play here in the US. No problem pausing to discuss. Anette didn’t think she could finish the tour and would definitely not be able to do the Australian and Asian portion, due to her recently discovered pregnancy. She initially agreed to allow them o bring on a replacement for the rest of the tour, before she knew it was going to be Floor. They took Wishmaster off the setlist, but eventually brought it back with Floor on a later tour.

I know they played at an arena in Massachusetts this year. Some venues in usa are still smaller for Nightwish though.

@@deed5811 Yes, they did play at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, Massachusetts this year, which has a capacity just under 7,000 for concerts. The Ogden Theatre, where this took place in 2012, in Denver holds about 1,600. They played in Denver on their tour again this year at the Mission Ballroom, which holds just under 4,000, but most of the North American shows were at venues around 2,000 capacity.

Imagine you get a call from Tuomas at your sister's wedding and he asks you if you want to join the biggest Finnish metal band, but it has to be immediately. And Floor hadn't completely freed herself from her burnout at that time.

That call from Tuomas: Floor had so much to learn "The setlist", that she didn't have time to think or worry about her burnout. Nightwish saved her and she saved Nightwish. Match made in heaven or Walhalla.🤟💯

Nightwish contacted floor about a week or so before hand to ask her if she could help them through the tour for a couple or so months while annette went off for maternity leave.(I think) But things took a turn for the worse with annette a few days later, so they phoned floor again and asked can she fly out now! Ahead of schedule. 48 hours before their next concert.....so no pressure then. Remember! Floor was just getting through her burnout at this time. She hadn't performed on stage for months....coming in cold quite literally.

I believe they had planned to finish the USA tour with Annette and then she would take a break for pregnancy stuff and they would have a stand in for Australia tour. When Annette got ill during USA tour and they did that Denver show without her she got angry and posted a message on social media about how she wasn't happy that they performed without her and said something daft about "Rhianna wouldn't ask Britney Spears to sing in her place if she was sick". Very ill advised and so that was the end of that. They sacked her and called Floor to step in and finish the tour.

A year before Floor joint Nightwish she had a massive burnout and she just recovered from that when the band ask her to come to Seatle and finish the tour .

Nightwish's show in the US are still small, as they are still an indepent band, they do not have the backing of the big venues, ticketing systems, promotions, etc., plus in the US pop music has a quasi monopoly, which is not the case in Europe.

Floor with After Forever had been on same festivals with Nightwish. So they knew each other, and Floor liked Nightwish and Nightwish liked Floor's vocals. Nightwish thought about asking Floor to join Nightwish much earlier than they finally did, I think Marko suggested that, but they didn't want to steal her. In 2012 she was free. There is a video of After Forever covering a Nightwish song: "After Forever - SHE IS MY SIN (Nightwish cover 2006)" The audio quality is not so good, but tolerable. So that is from the time when Nightwish was without a female vocalist, between Tarja and Anette, and could have tried to steal her from After Forever, but decided not to. Floor's vocals are more operatic, Tarja influence I guess, than later when she sings this song with Nightwish.

Nightwish knew Floor because she and her band After Forever played at some of the same festivals in Europe where Nightwish also played . Floor was a fan of Nightwish. BUT because of her burnout, Floor hadn't heard ANYTHING about the new songs on the new album. that's why it were 15 completely unknown and never heard before songs that Floor had to learn in 48 hours

Tuomas wanted Floor already in the band after Tarja left, but she was busy with other projects. Floor played some gigs together with Marco already roughly ten years before she entered Nightwish, so they knew each other well, really well, and of course Floor knew Nightwish and the songs... (small world, symphonic metall, with After Forever she was the supporting band for Nightwish already in 2002 where she did duets with Marco). I can confirm that Floors new hair style is as beautiful as the old and that while she may have held back just a bit at Wembley yesterday, I concur with a comment elsewhere that Floor at 99% is still in a class of her own

At 16:43 "Why didn't they keep Anette..?" Long story short: Nightwish and her weren't a good fit after all. EDIT: At 32:01 "But it was never something like okay come tour with us". Everybody in the metal scene knew about Floor from the early 2000s and even before. And yes, Nightwish & After Forever toured together, very early on. I should know cuz I saw them in Tilburg 2002 (with another Finnish band). The Finns seemed so tiny compared to the Dutchie giants, haha. That and the guitarist Bas from AF taking the mic during NW's set, surprising many of us with stellar vocals is what I remember most. I liked AF better than NW. Cheers!

Hello my beautiful friends, I hope you are well 😊 I've seen this a number of times - everything is well documented so I didn't really want to directly comment on it - I'd prefer to suggest another possible rabbit hole for you as a result of that wonderful makeshift show they put on. As you might remember, I told you that I went to see 'Amaranthe' here in London last month - they are fronted by one of those young Ladies who helped out so wonderfully that night - Elize Ryd - she was a guest vocalist with 'Kamelot' at that time whom I believe were supporting Nightwish - so I'd love you to take a look at Kamelot's song 'Sacrimony' which features Elize and also the other Nightwish saviour 'Alyssa White-Gluz of 'Arch Enemy - the live video is mesmerising - Tommy Karevik (lead singer of Kamelot) has such a silky smooth velvety voice - you might recognise him from singing on stage with 'Ayreon' in songs like 'The Day that the world breaks down' (the one where Arjen mentions that Tommy's part made him cry tears of joy!) and 'Everybody Dies' in which the incomparable Floor twirls on at the end to steal the show ( although not intentionally) - but 'Kamelot' are really worth a check. Fingers crossed 🤞 🙏 that Floor is ok - due to see Nightwish for the very first time this Monday coming! As always, God bless and take good care of yourselves 😃

The major upset was with the sacking of Tarja not Anette. It's also Tarja's version of Wishmaster that has the misheard lyrics because her pronunciation is poor. And yes Floor has performed Wishmaster. She knew Nightwish because she had toured with them with her other band After Forever.

There were issues for some time but from what I heard, Annette threw a temper tantrum and felt the need to vent online when she found out that Denver concert went ahead anyway without her. And she really lost it when she found out the guest vocalist during her pregancy was Floor Jansen, someone she prob knew was a better singer than her. Hence why she was let go.

1 tip - If you're watching on a tablet or telephone just watch the video in full screen mode and then you zoom in and out while pinching. The video is of good enough quality to be able to read the subtitles then.
