We might have told you already but it might help you to know Tuomas uses several pseudonyms to refer to himself in various Nightwish songs which he writes from experiences, observation or imagination, he says he is a man with a boy's heart (child-man), a grown-up Peter Pan, and you will see that directly in places even, when he uses boy narrators sometimes in place of himself. Digging into his lyrics is almost a second bite of the cherry. He will also use poet, dreamer, writer/song writer or ocean soul - Tuomas has an affinity for the ocean, he wanted to become a marine biologist; keep all this in mind for later, it will help. So here, "A writer by a fire. . . . . ." Tuomas is speaking to you directly, he is the story-teller, the “writer by the fire” - "Took a journey into a child-man’s heart" would be Tuomas remembering the childhood stories, the Peter Pan escapades of his imagination and fascinations, but the boy has grown up from being a Peter-Pan, the crib is empty. I am: the voice of Never-Never land, the empty crib, the journey, the destination, the home, Tuomas says, he's taking you back to his childhood fascinations. Floor sings the bridge "Neverland, innocence, dreams of every man. . . . . ." in a high operatic head voice, a pitch you might expect from a very, very excited small boy. Now, go look at all the lyrics and the references to the childhood classic stories and it all drops into place; it's one of the songs where it is easy to dig inside Tuomas' metaphoric lyrics and unravel them.

Floor is simply the best female vocalist of this time. From aria’s from Puccini to growling, she is so diverse. She is also a sweat person❤ Her headbangend is called the windmill, because she is from Holland. She is a powerhouse. I saw them many times, in Amsterdam 3 years ago for the last time. They are live even better than album. Thank you for your reaction sir. Romanticide is also a great video live. And ofcourse another masterpiece like a symphony, the greatest show in Earth, about evolution and humanity with dr. Dawkins.

Ther very first time I listened to this song, was at the Nightwish live concert in Wembley two years ago. What an experience! Just as you point out in this reaction. I went to the concert with my grown-up daugther, who was a Nightwish fan in the Tarja days of Nightwish. The last performance of the concert - The Greatest Show on Earth - was also new to both of us and was an experience out of this world.

An elderly writer looks back on his life of storytelling and all the other stories recalled from the past - including of course Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland. This tour was to promote the album Imaginaerum (not InaginARIum) and the band are the actors in the eponymous movie which was premiered at the November 2012 Helsinki concert. That movie, dark and disturbing in some ways, casts a lot of light on the songs from the album and includes many of them. Watching it will explain a lot of the lyrics and stories told in the songs In Storytime you get the "writer by the fire" imagining "all of Gaia", the storyteller who takes a "journey into a child-man's heart" (ie Tuomas who is a great Disney and Fantasy fan). The "painter on the shore" tells his stories through pictures rather than writing, holding the snowflake in his palm. This refers to the movie in which a snow globe plays an important symbolic role tying things together. Kites, chimneys, moonlit sights - think of Mary Poppins... I recommend the movie. Wacken, yes a great show. But Floor has matured and got even better over the years. A couple of years later Wembley and Tampere were in the Endless Forms tour and you can see how Floor has grown into the role. I prefer both those shows, as shows (I wouldn't want to be without the performances at Wacken, never to be repeated on later tours though. After all, without Wacken we wouldn't have a Floor performance on video of my No 2 Song of Myself). Best of all is 2018 at Buenos Aires which celebrated the Decades retrospective of 20+ years touring and brought back many early songs,breinterpreted and in most cases improved, with Floor. Of my top 6, 2 are from that show - Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean and Dead Boy's Poem and others are close behind (Slaying the Dreamer, Gethsemane, The Carpenter, End of All Hope and the opening Uilleann Pipe solo reinterpretation of Swanheart are among them but there are more).

This is our Valkyrie Goddess for you. And you witnessed first hand a "Dutch Windmill" , and to finish you off, The Operatic "Cruise Missile" !!!! Floor has 3 distinct styles. Head banging(straight forward, then back), hair whip(almost like cracking a bull whip) and the Windmill(continuous 360 degree revolutions). Why Windmill? Well she is Dutch. Awesome tune , although it is kind of a pop/rockish sound (originally sung by Anette, the second singer of Nightwish), but Floor gave it soooo much POWER !!! Including this "Operatic" part, what was originally done by children's choir because vocal limitations on their second singer (Great singer also, I might add), but Floor has none of that "Limit". Nightwish lyrics are often a bit interpretive, and not as "straight forward" as many other bands, because Tuomas ( The Metal Mozart Tuomas Holopainen: founder, leader, keyboardist, songwriter and the main composer for Nightwish.) prefers people to put their own interpretations and life experiences into the lyrics. you connect with songs on a personal level when there is something there that relates to things you have gone/are going through, and you may even find new connections later on in life when you have gone through other big events/emotions. there might be songs you are quite indifferent about (oh, nice song) and then you go through something big and all of a sudden it makes you break down in tears because now you relate to something in the lyrics you didn't before, and see it from a whole new perspective. imagination and life experiences are powerful, and Tuomas has great appreciation of this. NWSU/FloorFan/Epican/Ayreonaut/TWA/PauFan🤘😎🤘.
