That unique 'guitar' tone you were hearing was Troy's eight string Irish Bouzouki. They use it any time they're looking for a Celtic sound or a Middle-East vibe as we heard here. Troy gets going and the Floor does a little belly dance shimmy with her shoulders to add to the effect. All those little touches . . .

Troy is on Bazouki (strung like a Mandolin or Mandola 4 pairs of strings) and like a 12 string they buzz due to proximity and it has a pickup added to it, and Marko is using his 6 string using a piezo pickup and set to sound acoustic and Empuu is playing under them there.

This song is so amazing, and this performance you can see how much fun they have. And yes it’s anti religious or maybe more angry how some people abuse religion to keep the masses under control. Troy and Tuomas are secular and the rest is atheist I believe

At the moment he pointed out the strings, to me it was clearly when Troy came in, not Marco. FYI he is playing a Bouzouki a type of long neck lute with 8 chords.

Nice extended commentary there ;) Indeed the song is about the bad side of organized religion. The spoken words are across the whole album and are from Richard Dawkins who is an evolutionary scientist, inspired this album with one of his books, Tuomas read it and got hooked immediately (his words). The song that took the name from the title of the book is a 24 minutes epic journey through the history of the planet. It's called 'The Greatest Show on Earth', the version from this show in Tampere is pretty amazing, I'm sure you would enjoy that. There's also another performance in Wembley with Richard Dawkins live on stage, since he is from UK.

I think that you're sugarcoating it here. It's about religion plain and simple and in particular christianity. Tuomas's view on religion has changed a lot since he read the books of Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, Carl Sagan and the like. Tribal poetry is a direct reference to the bible. Male necrocracy is a reference to jesus. And the bible is indeed full of slavery particularly the OT. And every child is worthy of a better tale than the bible in essence (or whichever religious book).
