Sadly that probably wouldn't be the case. I felt exactly the same way several months ago. 95% of all the lyrics and music that Nightwish plays are written by their keyboards player, Tuomas Holopainen. He is indeed a genius. On their latest album, they have a 2nd CD that contains a 30-minutes symphony in 7 movements that he wrote. This proves what I've been saying for years, which is that if Tuomas made classical music instead of metal, he would be known as a composer in the same category as John Williams or Danny Elfman. He has been called the "metal Mozart" on the Internet before :)

Great reaction, fellas. One of my favorites.

Greetings from Helsinki, Finland! There are still so many great ones from NW for you to react to. At the moment two of my favorites are 7 days to the wolves and Shudder before the beautiful, both from Wembley Arena, London, England 2015. When F closed the eyes I was like "yep, he is already converted". 95% of the songs are written by Tuomas (keyboardist), music and lyrics. Marko (long beard bass player/singer) also contributes with his songs sometimes and collaborates with Tuomas in that department. The rest of the members might do suggestions as well but for the most part they are only performers. You are amused the same way we all were when we watched this concert first. It's ridiculously amazing. It's a legendary concert. You should check it out from start to finish, maybe in your own time or maybe one song at a time in the reactions. Then you can go on with the other concerts which are nothing short of amazing as well. Wembley & Tampere (2015, Buenos Aires (2018). And then you can go back to the Tarja (first singer) era, with more good stuff. They have a lot of material.

As always enjoy yiur reactions, but be ready, the Nightwish rabbit hole is incredible and deeeep. At some point yiu should do their new album Human Nature, all songs have incredible official lyric videos except one which was the first single which has an equally awesome music video. The album is nothing short of a masterpiece and tells the story of Human kind from different aspects, music, empathy, religion, creativity and so on. All righty, NW Army - MI, USA finding your journey and driving through it. I love the eye-opening moments. Once you're hooked, it is most rewarding watching someone else get hooked as well. I've several more to go in your catalog, and look forward to seeing them. Special recommendation for the concert-longing father: If you want to enjoy that special connection at a concert between a band and their audience, I have two recommendations: 1) Blind Guardian playing at Wacken, Bards Song and Valhalla. kzbin.info/www/bejne/n16slIuVl8iWfMU Don't be fooled about the Bards Song feeling light early on - this is a German power metal band originated in 1984 chilling with its home crowd (unfortunately I don't know if there's a video with English captions for the spoken parts). Though they don't play the second half of Bards Tale at the concert, the song amps up later on. Instead, at the show, the supplement that with another fan favorite just MADE for audience interaction for their closing song: Valhalla. 2) Slipknot playing at Download, Spit It Out. Corey's rap is often surprising to non-metal fans, but that's not what makes this one jump. kzbin.info/www/bejne/invThXqbi6-jjLM Again, I don't know the music will top your chart, but the interactive experience captured in the video is amazing.

Tuomas Holopainen ( the keyboardist) is the genius who formed and created Nightwish he writes 95 % of the songs. He is the Bach of our time. They have no bad songs or sets and I would keep with the live version at Wacken for now , then do Wembley and then do Tempere. Only suggestion I have is to do each concert from start to finish, you will find that Tuomas changes and tweeks the music, sights, sound because he wants you to experience the emotional, visual , your experience of each song/set. Just a suggestion try Ghost River, Last Ride of the Day. You could also listen to their latest album that just dropped April 10th, Human Nature it’s genius but I guarantee you if you listen to it now without knowing and hearing and watching their past performances. Other reactors have gone immediately to the latest Nightwish album and either don’t understand it or their comment is it doesn’t sound like Nightwish. They are a Progressive Symphonic Metal even folk band. They are visual as you can see by the crowds (and yours) reaction. I of course preordered their album and listened to it from beginning and end it’s again a masterpiece, but me and every other longtime Nightwish fan has said can’t wait to see what Tuomas and the band does with this music live. Your father said in previous video that he really got emotional because he lives to go to concerts but because of the lock down it’s not possible for a long while, my suggestion is to do a Nightwish 2013 Wacken complete concert reaction. I’ve suggested this to other reactors and they did but most broke it up in 3to 4 song/set reactions. Even though they had done 3or 4 songs (as you have done) of that show and they couldn’t believe how much they enjoyed them again. And they were glad that they were not at the show because after 3or 4 songs live they were exhausted and emotionally drained. They couldn’t believe how much emotional energy is used up being there. So glad your in the Nightwish army I told you awhile back your in for a wonderful magical journey. Oh why don’t you get your son to cut your hair he trusted you and you didn’t do a bad job.! Until next time enjoy your reactions!🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

Another stellar reaction 👍 Sadly, the reason Nightwish isn't even more popular here in the States is the extreme POP bias by the music industry and media😢 that and the same old "Cookie Cutter" rock bands. Being a Nightwish fan here in the States since late '97-early '98 its been my duty, as a member of the Nightwish Army, to introduce them to folks. Most have loved it, and the word spreads even more. Dad, the way you and your son connect musically is awesome! ... just let him get a word in edgewise every so often, uh'right? ;) hahaha rock on guys! \m/ Also, "7 Days to the Wolves" from Wembley Arena concert 2016 should, imho, be your next Nightwish reaction vid. The most popular version of "The Poet and the Pendulum" -- aka TPATP -- is also from this concert. I believe this is meant to be the last time they play it. Although The Poet and the Pendulum can certainly be a moving experience in and of itself, as others have mentioned, this song is so meaningful for Tuomas in particular, that it becomes important to know the events that preceded it and led to its conception. In fact, the haunting and touching nature of the lyrics can be confusing and even unintelligible without this prior knowledge. Perhaps others with a better understanding of the facts can further and better fill you in, but in short - and to the best of my knowledge - , having to dismiss Tarja from the band (October, 2005), for professional as well as personal reasons, was an extremely painful and difficult ordeal for Tuomas, since he and Tarja have known each other from their youth and, it is suggested, that their relationship became very close in the early days of the band. This emotional turmoil became so serious that Tuomas decided to "end it all" through music rather than physically. I thank the gods that this was his decision. The world is a better place for it. In retrospect, dad - sorry, I don't know your name {:-\ - you may want to skip reacting to TPATP with your son given his tender age. It's very powerful stuff. Perhaps you and your "better half" could do it instead. It is an amazing experience. The way Marco and Emppu join Tuomas at the end is extraordinary. Peace from Downundah, mate \m/

Oh! You can take almost any of their albums since "Once" and take any track from any album and everytime you will wonder "how on earth did i miss it before?" )

I hope by some random chance Tuomas crosses paths with this reaction as it would have to bring a smile to his face. Awesome reaction and a pleasure getting to share it with you. “Musical Mozart” fits him well as he is the keyboardist and primary songwriter/composer for the band.

YOU GUYS!!! Thank you so very much for always putting a smile on our faces with your awesome, heartfelt reactions!!! I really hope you may one day go to a NW concert, I'd love to see a video of your thoughts afterwards. Stay safe and warm greetings from Greece 🙂

More Nightwish, please! Although Wacken is a cornucopia of amazing songs, I suggest "7 Days to the Wolves" at Wembley 2015. My favourite song! And of course, there are the two monuments of Nightwish on the horizon: "The Poet and the Pendulum" at Wembley 2015 and "The Greatest Show on Earth" at Tampere 2015.

Hello hello hello hello. I think you guys are ready for the poet and the pendulum. The reactions on your face explained it all. I have never heard anything like this before in my life, and I have listen to metal music for over 40 years.the nightwish army will explain to you who writes all the music. Nightwish has a huge catalog of awesome songs. I love your guys's show, so keep on keepin on

When I see teenagers and young people listening to and appreciating good music, not only are some laurels of some "cardboard stars" I can only be happy and consider that humanity has another chance.

Toumas the keyboard player is the answer to both of your questions, 95% of the music and lyrics. He Emppu ( guitar ) and Jukka ( drums ) are original members ( of Five ). Marco ( bass ) joined in 2001. Jukka left the band in 2017 for health issues. He is still very involved with the band. He is either CEO or CFO of the corp. Floor and Troy joined shortly before Wacken. New drummer is Kai one of Jukka's besties.

Tuomas is the symphonic metal Mozart. He does most of the music and lyrics. Marko does a little, but mostly Tuomas. Their shows are so theatrical. You are right - they are the whole package. Never heard them before I heard them on your channel. I now have most of their CD's and DVD's. Thanks a lot guys ! You need to do Ghost River, Poet and the Pendulum next. Nightwish is phenomenal !!

The lyrics for this song, Song of Myself, are of a poem by Walt Whitman "Song of Myself". But mainly composer is Tuomas, with help from others when they start rehearsing. What the others have commented.

Tuomas the keyboardist writes more than 95 % of all songs and lyrics, he is a genius. If you watch the songs from this Wacken show every song will blow you away. Maybe you should check out the new new album Human Nature a little, the song Tribal, you must do it before you go to their concert...because you need to practice before the concerts...check it out :)

Tuomas (keyboard) gets an idea for a song. He then goes into a room by himself and starts working on the lyrics. He says as he is writing the lyrics he hears the music in his head. After he is finished with the lyrics and music, he presents the song to the band and they tweak their individual parts. He also writes the prerecorded parts of the song that are performed by high level orchestras or choirs under his supervision, which are used during concerts. If they create a studio version song then it includes an orchestra and choir if needed. He’s the Hans Zimmer of the Metal world. 😄🤘
