Chase is a great reactor. I love his videos. You two do a wonderful job as well. This was another one of Tuomas' songs about recapturing childhood innocence and the fantasy of youthful imagination. To read the story is to bring it to life in your imagination. If you think about it, the human imagination is the reason why we have become technological advanced society. To imagine anything is the beginning point of making it a reality. This is why the storyteller was so important in ancient cultures, long before mankind developed writing. Lips that intoxicate is an allusion to the storyteller again. Tuomas believes that each of us are living our own stories.
@BradAlenaMetalReactions
@BradAlenaMetalReactions 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Thorgrim! You'll be pleased to know that we've been in contact with Chase and are trying to organise some collaboration. We think a reaction together would work well since he's great at discussing the instruments and we focus a lot on lyrics - so we can bring different skillsets to the reaction. Sound like something you would enjoy?
@Thorgrim247
@Thorgrim247 4 жыл бұрын
@@BradAlenaMetalReactions Absolutely. I would love it. A big selling point for me and I believe most Nightwish fans is the poetic nature of Tuomas' writing style. This style in my opinion adds so much depth to music compositions. Aren't we all tired of the standard old rock and metal songs. Partying, women, fast cars, blah blah blah. On top of that anger is not my thing anymore. The world makes me angry enough. I don't look to music for that emotion.To me music is the unspoken language, the language of pure emotion. Then you add those poetic lyrics and it opens up the possibilities of the mind. It takes on a personal meaning which only you can understand. This is the beauty and wonder of poetry. Each person is able to take away the story or meaning that they perceive. This is why many times when Tuomas is asked about the meanings behind his songs, his answer is for you to "decide for yourself". Do it and I will be there. Peace.

I enjoy you both discussing the songs and the lyrics a lot. Your Poet and the Pendulum reaction is still one of my favorites- made me think about different aspects of the song more so. Yes, I Want My Tears Back mentions Alice. I love the opening guitar riff as well...one of my favorite riffs of any genre/song. Keep up the great work. Stay Safe.

Nice to see you react to Nightwish again, and very good choice to start with Storytime. Its a happy song, and catchy. The drum part and the ending is what I like most. I have not dug into the lyrics (again), and it was interesting to hear your breakdown. Btw, it was in "Poet and the Pendulum" that starts with a choir boys voice. That you should remember :P Cool that you try to learn to pick the instruments. Chase do that very good, I learn something every time I watch his reactions too. But musically there. :) You should at least do "Ghost River" before you are finished with Wacken 2013 . "The Greatest Show On Earth" is about Evolution. I don't think you need to know more than that. You'll get it, when you see it :)

@Brad & Alena Metal Reactions slowly but surely :D My first touch to "screaming metal" that I liked was Killswitch Engage - Just Barely Breathing (kzbin.info/www/bejne/rGOzkpSZm7aHfpo) in 2005, after that I was sold. Maybe you can try some Metal Core with catchy clean vocals as well. In the beginning she will bare with the screams to get to the good parts, but slowly she converts into full on Death Metal 😂

We have a similar metal path it seems haha. Loved Killswitch! I do want to introduce her to some metalcore and nu metal as well. See what she thinks. We've found some success with proggy stuff with mix cleans and growls. She liked Opeth a lot!

@@BradAlenaMetalReactions Haha so cool :D I love Opeth as well. Ghost Reveries album was the one that introduced me to Opeth, just full of good songs. Maybe she would like to listen to some other female vocalist apart from Nightwish and Jinjer. The Charm The Fury - Blood and Salt is a good one and they have more brutal stuff as well. I don't know if someone has told you about them, anyway I just thought I would put it out there, doesn't even have to be a rection :D

Nightwish reaction is always a success. Actually you have to try Tarja era songs, some of them are pure magic. Also, i saw that you like tales, and as far as I know, no one in metal telling the story better than Iron maiden... I can suggest few songs. The clansman. The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg. Fear of the dark. Phantom of the opera. The educated fool. Paschendale. There's a lot of great songs from Iron maiden...
