I've always interpreted the WE WERE HERE part to be not just a reminder that we were here, but more like a cry out to the universe. Letting everyone else know we existed, even after we are long gone. A cry of someone to remember us.

I agree. However, u can look at it this way too. "We Were Here" can also mean now. As in the people alive today. In 100 years, the people alive won't remember us either. Yet, we were here. Once my children die, the only people who may remember me is my grandchildren. Once they die, NO ONE will remember me. Yet, I was here. Alive and on this planet.

I was a die hard Tarja fan and gave up on Nightwish as Anette's voice just wasn't working for me. Only recently I started listening to Nightwish again and I really didn't think that I would ever say that but oh boy, Floor is amazing! I regret missing all those years since Floor has been with the band and I'm glad that they found her. She's a perfect match for the band and i do hope they will work together for many years to come. There's something magical about her, and her voice is truly amazing and versatile. I love Tarja and I really never thought that I would say this but I love Floor just as much and even a little bit more. I truly hope I'll get to see Nightwish with Floor live one day!

Indeed. While Tarja is among the best singers in the world, the band only reached their full creative potential after they parted ways. We'll never hear another Passion and the opera or Sleepwalker, as Floor simply cannot match the sheer power of Tarja's voice. But for Élan and the Greatest show on Earth? That is a fair price to pay.

I think Tuomas didn't want to start a war between theists and atheists. He wanted however, to glorify life, to open our eyes to see, what we have here on our tiny planet, orbiting in a vast yet empty universe. He tried to show us, through our ears, that life is an ever changing cycle. Species come and go, and, especially for us, we have to keep in mind that we are just the latest product of a long chain. Like the newes mobile phone, now hyped, but doomed to be replaced and forgotten! In a few generations, no one on earth will remember us, who we were and what we did. Its actually sad that quite a lot of people did burn or send back their concert tickets after listening to the album for the first time just because the message carried did not fit their world view... And its not that much a song about evolution but about our (mankinds) way to the place we are in now. Its about appreciation of what had to happen for you to be on this earth and that the earth and life is beautiful. Enjoy your life as long as it lasts - because you only have this one. Make it worthwhile : ) The only purpose you have is the one you and your fellows give you - so make the best out of the limited time you have. And don't fear death - but rather be happy that you actually are alive. You've been dead for 13 billion years befor you were born and you did not suffer any harm from that - so instead of hunting for some kind of afterlife or worrying about death rather enjoy your life : )

In spite of some of the lower quality clips, you've done a great job of piecing together a visual representation of one of the most epic musical scores ever created. This entire album never fails to send chills down my spine. Your video captured exactly what my mind's eye envisioned...Bravo!

Did anyone notice from 13:50 to 14:49, there are multiple scraps of instruments and musical notes portraying the evolution of music? Or maybe it's just the multiple genres of music...? It starts with tribal drums, goes through chant, lyre, harpsichord, then a gun shot, banjo music, rock, and a short tehcno beat. it's kinda cool :)

Interestingly, it goes through the history of music. Several samples of historical pieces are played. The flute is playing the Dies Irae, for example, which is a Gregorian chant.
