Concert was October 21, 2005. Last night of the ONCE upon a tour in Helsinki Finland. End of an Era was the name of the DVD of the show published summer 2006 because Tarja was no longer in the band. The song is the title track to the 3rd album Wishmaster (2000). The reference to the earlier show is in the club in Tampere Finland December 29, 2000. Wishes to Eternity. Also on DVD. Tarja has not vanished she went solo. Just sooner then planned backnin 2006. Her first release was a Christmas album. My Winter Storm was her 1st rock album in 2007/8. Her fans (of which I am one) are called Her winter storm. We are strong and we keep her afloat.😊

The song is about a love for fantasy novels, with references to Tolkien's Dragonlance and Lord of the Rings series. Yep, that was the riff from The Trooper at the end. You've done several songs already from this 2005 concert. One you haven't done yet is "The Siren", Tarja and Marko killing it.

Thank you!! Such a good song!! The performance is awesome, the whole concert is awesome! Nothing can beat this version. This is a song where Tarja's more operatic voice really, really shines. I know Floor can do this song well, but it just flows better with Tarja. This was 18 years ago, grazy! They all were so young, yet already so talented. It's a great song, but Nightwish has so many great songs that they just don't have time to play this one live anymore. Good for us that Tarja does. She usually plays one or none of the Nightwish songs. At the beginning of the year Wishmaster was part of her setlist in her In the Raw tour. Also there is part of us fans (probably quite big part) who will forever sing "In me the FISHMASTER!"

This is so grand concert and yes in this song they all really shine (if not always). They are so much on the comfort zone here. Concert was in 2005 but also in 2000 they did this song ....started in 1996.

Thought you'd like that Daniel 😅! When I suggested it a couple of weeks ago, I mentioned that they got a little bored of playing this song - but as you can see, there's nothing boring about it😊! I must point out that you're one of the few reactors who picked up on the Iron Maiden bit! I also mentioned the misheard lyrics video 'Fishmaster' - which is good - if not only to hear the song again! I think I've seen one video on KZbin of Floor singing this but don't remember anything about it! Of course, that End of an Era gig was the last appearance of Tarja - that concert was on 🔥 - it included 'High Hopes' and 'Phantom of the Opera' too which in my very humble opinion were probably the tightest I'd ever heard them. Anette and Floor both performed this and did great with it, Tuomas added a fun little choir part in the beginning too that doesn't exist in the original, but Tarja will always be my favourite for this song, she's just so dark and gothic and you can tell how effortless this is for her ❣ These fantasy-inspired songs were a big part of Tuomas' writing back then and Tarja's singing style automatically makes it sound "un-modern" and fantastical in the best way possible :) Thanks for the reaction!

Marko's bass lines are amazing. Relisten to this with special attention to the bass. Amazing. This was the End Of An Era concert in 2005. Tuomas had the next album composed but Tarja was planing to leave the band after the album, and was not going to tour with the band to promote the album. The band members voted to fire her after the concert, which is what they did, very badly, in a public, open letter. Tuomas has said this was the best concert they had done to that moment of time. It was an amazing concert. There were songs I didn't like, but most were phenomenal. Wacken 2013 will always be my favorite of their full concerts, but the Phantom of the Opera 2005 song is the first Nightwish song I ever heard, and why I began following them.
