The contrast with her bombastic voice and the bombastic sound has never been so lived out within Nightwish as with Tarja. Even if Tuomas always denies it, the old things of Tarja were written for her bombastic voice. These songs can only be sung by a classically trained voice because only then it will sound perfect. My ears are spoiled and for this reason I prefer to watch the old performances of the old stuff than newer ones. Such classics from Tarja I want to hear and see only with Tarja. These songs were made for her voice. You can hear it.

so true..Floor is a fine singer but she is using a contemporary voice which needs to be constantly supplemented by rises, screams and groans to sound adequate without the beauty of reverberation and the flowing quality so amply present in Tarja's delivery...

Without Tarja, Nightwish is an ordinary band that has nothing special anymore. Her 2 successors can't even remotely hold a candle to her. For me they are only interesting until 2005, after that I find them boring. Even if they might be selling more CDs now, that's not a sign of quality for me.

That timing belongs to the song. The pauses are intentional, as are the variances in the voice. She sang it nearly perfectly here. And her voice is such, I find it much more enjoyable to listen to than basically any American popsinger. Very much opera in that.

Her husband Marcelo took a lot of blame for what happened to the band, but he responded to 145 e-mails from fans giving his side of the story, if anything it appears he helped keep the band together longer than it might have otherwise. To me it seems most of the blame lies with the band, the band management and Tuomas.

I get so sad, when I look at the past and see how many members left the band for stupid reasons that almost led to the end of the band.. for me I prefer to keep this Nightwish than the present one, I'm not talking bad about the current musicians, they are incredible, Floor is amazing, I love her very much.. but I was very sad and shaken when I heard about Marko Hietala's departure.. this had a very big impact with the affection I had with the band, Jukka then, I really wanted to see him playing Night's drums again...

This is not a consert they had in 2005!!! In 2005 they had a consert in a place called Hell, outside Trondheim in Norway!! That was on the Once tour! And the Wishmaster album is older than Once!

Tarja planned to begin solo career after another studio album and tour w/Nightwish in 2007. However the band decided to dump her in 2005 and released an open letter instead of handling it privately, probably for the free publicity (cont).

Even when Tanja has a bad day, her voice still owns Anettes voice. Don't get me wrong, Anette isn't a bad singer at all, but it's impossible to beat a classical singer like Tarja who even has the capacities to adapt to rock music.

On that note, anyone knows about the lyrics of the word, what does the 'Sla-Mori only known by Him' refer to? I know the place 'Sla-Mori' from Dragonlance, but I can't figure out what that line refers to here. Also, the 'heartborne, seventh seeker' was a tad blurry. I mean, heartborne I can kinda figure out especially as it's a repeating theme in the song, heartborne, one who believes, etc. but I'm wondering if it's some intertextual reference I'm missing. Anyone know?
