This song was written for the August 11 solar eclipse in 1999. I still remember the strange darkness and chill setting in the middle of a sunny day. And six days later, right on Tarja's birthday, we had the biggest earthquake in our history (until then, unfortunately we had a bigger one last month) and our lives have never been the same again. I heard this song for the first time in 2005. It completely fascinated me and it still fascinates me today. Tarja and Nightwish became my band of choice. I still listen to Tarja and Nigthwish today. I'm just very sorry I didn't have time to visit their concert with Tarja and Marko Hietala. I am 73 years old and in December I was at the Nigtwish concert in Prague. At least I got my wish that way.

2007 for me. It was used by a fan in an Anime Music Video over scenes of sad character deaths -- couldn't care about most of them, but the song utterly captivated me. And the video got deleted so I was looking for so long for it, then I got the song recommended to me randomly two years later. And I didn't have the song's name or even the people who made it. I was looking with utterly nothing. 'Wait,' I said to myself when I saw the track listed. 'Sleeping Sun... Why does that stick out to me?' And I listened to it and I was immediately gasping with shock because it was _that_ song. And I immediately started listening to Elvenpath and Ever Dream and the covers of Phantom Of The Opera and Walking In The Air. Tarja was already gone by that point - it was around the release of Imaginaerum. But I discovered a great band thanks to this song.

James hetfield neither i do. since 2005, nightwish is not nightwish. i still didnt hear their last album elan, and i m not interesting in do it. floor jansen forgive me but i prefer tarja, but before her than that annoyed girl annete olzon the worst singer. by floor i just enjoy the inslander song, but tarja is eternal, tarja forever. i dont enjoy new nightwish. nightwish .... r.i.p 1996 - 2005 ❤ ever ( i.m.o ).

Tarja owns it in this original studio version, but live she struggled with the breathing at times. Floor never struggles with breathing, but whether you prefer one voice or another on a particular song is just a matter of personal preference.
