Since it will probably continue to get brought up: you can move the t.rex claw to the front of the holster. It does make a bit of a difference 👍 It’s still hard to compete with the T1C adjustable claw, though.

On the example that I reviewed, yes it fit. But your mileage may vary since I’ve seen a lot of variance in these holsters. Each holster has its strengths, but T1C seems to have a slight edge in concealability. But it’s hard not to compare current lead times, too. Everything is a trade off, lol.

Great video, I agree with you I had the the old t-Rex arms holster for my hk vp9 and the first thing that broke on it was the claw it also concealed like 💩 because the claw is not making enough contact with the belt and in my opinion it needs to be more aggressive. I have the MSP with the TLR 1 and as we spoke a while ago how I converted it to aegis lmao from a prior holster and with a large wedge it conceals amazing. I still think I’m my opinion Tier1 is a much better holster.

@@Ma-lt5km My gut feeling was that the T.Rex claw was going to create a stress point for the holster, so I'm not surprised. T1C designed their holsters to reduce stress on the kydex to minimize breakages. And the T1C claw is simply better. I give the slight edge to T1C, but I can't deny that the Sidecar 2.0 is still a great holster. I can make both holsters work, the T1C just impresses me a bit more with its concealability and overall design.

They got rid of their sweat guard option like a year ago to streamline manufacturing. Also you can move the claw where you want, it’s just in the back from default. I always run mine in the front.

That was my assumption about the sweat guard 👍 And after I made the video I had the idea to move the claw up front. It made a difference, for sure, but T1C still has the best claw design since it’s significantly adjustable. Both are great holsters though. Definitely a fan of both and would be happy to run either 👍

Great review man, loved it. My personal opinion is that 95% or more of people will not notice when we may print, even with the worst IWB holster on the market. So to me, even though I do see some of the negatives where it may not conceal as well as the axis - It is not a deal breaker. I also like the idea of the gun not being sucked directly into my gut, when that happens, I personally have a difficult time getting a good purchase on the grip. I also am willing to trade the lack of concealability for the industry leading turntimes & customer service & overall support for a company that educates and informs the customer as much as they do.

I agree! T.Rex and what they do for the 2A community cannot be denied. The Sidecar is a phenomenal holster. Once you play with the clips, wing, and wedge you can squeeze a decent level of concealability out of it 👍 And, like you said, lead times are second-to-none. T1C still has my funky patterns and high sweat guards, tho… lol! 😅

Awesome review. I tend to lean more for Trex Arms just because they do so much for the citizenry. I also can’t deny that there are some elements to the T1C that do make it a better concealing holster. I really was looking forward to the new design, but was a little disappointed that they didn’t do anything with the claw. Also what a punch of nostalgia to the face with the character select music for both smash bros and marvel vs. capcom 2!

I got one of these for my sig p320 compact wore it a couple times and wasn’t super comfortable. Saw a video that suggested raising the hooks up a slot or two so the holster sits a little lower and it was night and day difference. Way more comfortable for me at least.

Solid review. Valid points. The claw can in fact be mounted to the front of the holster and that helps a ton with pushing the grip into your body. I havent had any issues with the kydex cracking for the year or so that ive used the holster. Even if it did, with one email t rex arms will ship you a brand new holster at no cost. I really believe with the modularity, shipping times, overall cost, and quality this makes it a better option over the tier 1. With that being said, I used an axis elite in the past with dcc clips and I had no complaints with that holster either. Having options is a great thing and id be happy with either holster!

Hey bud, I've been rocking the old gen sidecar for a few years. When I got it, I moved the claw to the front. It helped it work a lot better. I'm pretty sure I got the idea from Lucas himself during a livestream, so it shouldn't damage the holster, it sure hasn't hurt mine.

Is there a way on the Tier 1 site to select the height of the sweat guard? Maybe I didn't see it because I was looking at P365 holsters, and maybe they're too small to offer that option.

Part of the reason the holster isn't presenting as snuggly as desired is do to the low and loose beltline being maintained. If your belt was resting up on top of your hips, and the belt more snug, you'll find it conceals better 😉

Yep, I can own up to a mistake. Since I didn’t order it, all I had were the instructions that came with it and the claw wasn’t mentioned at all. It seems obvious now, though 🤦‍♂️🤣 I did switch it over after I realized and it helped a bit, but still not as efficient as the T1C claw. Glad you still enjoyed the video despite the little mistake 👍

I could see how they might tear up a leather belt or a cheaper nylon belt. But I’ve had no issues with my KORE, Wilderness Tactical, or T1C-S belts. Might also have something to do with people letting the clips drag on the belt while putting on or removing the holster. No issues with tearing clothing either. But I could see if you clamped them onto pants without a belt and did a bunch of reps it would probably rip/tear over time.

Axis elite has a design with better bumps/humps to make it more concealable. It’s also reinforced for a longer lifespan.

The ride height on the sidecar is too high. Adjust the clips to lower it down a bit and then it won't spill out as much. You can see you have the tier1 lower and it pulls it in tighter.

I'm late to this video, but in terms of the holster spilling over the belt, just raise the belt clips up to the highest setting. It puts the system down into the waist-band more.

It’s a delicate balance, though. Too low and you lose your consistent full-firing grip on the draw. I just couldn’t find a middle ground with the clips on the T-Rex.

I wore the T-Rex arms sidecar for a few months, and Imo, it's just not concealable. It's almost always printing, and because of the cant to the holster when utilizing the extra mag the butt end of my gun used to find its way under my clothing and peek out all the time. The clothes just always climbed up the grip and never fall down because it pushes the grip away from the belt line

I'm new to conceal carry. Finally received my CCL card last week. I already had purchased the tier 1 elite holster for the appendix and I do not like the appendix carry at all. Don’t do a sidecar if you don’t wanna do appendix. I have minimalist style holsters from 3 or 4 different companies and have learned it’s all about ride height when it comes to comfort. And those holsters can fit into other positions besides just appendix

T1c qc is suffering from their lead times. Just got a new xiphos elite for g19 with tlr-7a. I know this light can cause fitment issues because its a slick body light. But i can holster the gun and turn it upside down and it falls right out with no shaking. Worst part is, it left their shop that way because the retention screw was tightened all the way down from the factory. I know lemons happen with any company. But theyre 0-1 for me. I have holsters ffrom other companies for that light but different gun and they have a decent friction fit.

It is cool that you can add different attachments to the trex but in all reality would you really carry an AR mag? Maybe a TQ but I'm still Tier1 all the way. Much better kydex, better components, adjustable claw and more designs to customize. Tier1 is where it's at. Great video. Looking forward to the comparison vid

@@NightwoodGuns I've had the Axis Slim for Hellcat years ago, OWB Centurion for X5 Legion, Agis Elite( which I really like, due to the mag being further apart than axis...dad bod) for MR920 and just finally got MSP PRO flex w X300 and although bigger its surprisingly comfortable. I really like the idea of as long as I run the x300 it will accommodate multiple firearms. I really dig Tier1 content as well.

I just carry a keltec sub2000 beneath my polyurethane leather trench coat. You don't have to worry about printing when you're posing with your back facing the imaginary camera and looking over your shoulder while you wait at the bus stop.

It's probably for the best, I was in a hurry to get back to Wendy's. I left my TriStar T100 in the bathroom on the stall floor again and it had my favorite Cowboy Bebop Lok Grips on them so I had to go back. I'm on my fourth universal nylon holster and they still seem to just fall right out.

I've had it staged for home defense loaded with #8 Walmart birdshot (1 1/8 oz. manstoppers) for three years, but my Master Chief helmet got lost in the mail so I haven't test fired it yet. I've accidentally knocked it over while training with my Master Sword about six times, but since I never keep a round in the chamber it's never gone off.

It really comes down to nitpicking finer details that honestly don’t matter much. Congrats on the Staccato P, that’s exciting! Naw. My opinion is the TRex Sidecar holster is that it’s “just another plastic holster”. The claw is weak. Even on the front side, it doesn’t create enough concealment. And I really don’t care about having a rifle mag carrier on my pistol holster. Doesn’t make sense. And a handcuff carrier. Really? Nope, not a cop. And go ahead and handcuff someone as a citizen and watch the felony false imprisonment charges rack up. 😂 A tourniquet holder? That’s not such a bad idea. But I already carry three tourniquets between my EDC backpack and my IFAK. The Kydex just feels a bit thinner and cheaper on the TRex. The Tier 1 Axis Elite actually has actually been thought through very well as far as the concealment claw, the adjustable height on the clips AND the claw. The gusseting. The mag carrier is much better. You can even have it made for an extended mag even if you don’t have one if you like your mag to sit lower than the slide. Which I do. No pokey poke! To me, it’s just a way higher quality and better thought out design. Besides. Lucas is such a……..never mind. I’ll play nice. 😂

I got this yesterday and I ABSOLUTELY HATE IT. Another overpriced plastic piece of crap. To make it worse, T Rex does not accept returns for the sidecar holster because it’s custom. So now I have a $100 POS that’s just going to sit around. Once again another IWB holster ONLY made for thin framed people.
