There is no such thing as secure, when giving ANY information to the government.

Participants may get information back about themselves but some or most of that information, in particular DNA information may very well be shared with private companies. Many of which will end up generating profit for themselves from that information. For decades the American taxpayer has subsidized pharmaceutical research and those companies make huge profits on the backs of taxpayers and when they come out with new products what do they do.. ? They charge Americans the highest prices for their drugs. Virtually nowhere else in other countries do their citizens pay anywhere near the costs Americans have to pay. All the while in the background seeking private information about Americans free of charge. Wise consumers should act more like private companies do. If a business wants information about a person that person should demand a price.
