Arena Showcase - WCW SuperBrawl (1991-2001)

As we start to close in on covering all of the WCW PPV events here on Arena Showcase, one of the last to touch on is SuperBrawl. In this episode we are taking a trip back in time, checking out all of the aspects that made up the yearly event from 1991 to 2001.

You know WCW was dying in 2001 when they use the Comic Sans font for Superbrawl Revenge. Honestly, I'm quite partial to the 2000 logo which looks like a sports team logo from the time, but as far as stages, I love the 1998 stage which has that Wrestlemania 2000 look to it with the rectangular video screens.

I'm really curious about the creative meetings not involving the wrestlers during that time. I wouldn't be surprised if the fonts looking that way came down to petty upper management debates over using the budget. Somehow I feel their decision to keep the Nitro Girls had something to do with those funky fonts 😂🤣

The WCW Mayhem Game has the Superbrawl Arena look like a prison

Yea it does. They had created a lot of their own original sets for that game.

Speaking as a WWE guy, and if I didn't know about the existence of Starrcade, I would probably assumed that SuperBrawl was the WrestleMania of WCW just by seeing at the logos and stage designs (ignoring the 2000 and 2001 editions). Great video as always!

You know your'e about to see some stiff catch wrestling when the arena entrance has curtains and a a ramp the height of the actual ring. The graphics on the canvas in Superbrawl V are a cool touch, but that bullseye logo is just flawless. Superbawl 8's fonts and color scheme, Superbrawl 6's ring, and everything else Superbrawl 7 are my favorite parts since its too hard for me to choose just one complete set.

Yeah they did. It’s a shame because they used to have their own identity and then when they were struggling they tried to be just like WWF in many ways, which obviously didn’t work out so well.

The Cow Palace is legendary. It’s located in a shady part of the outskirts of San Francisco and hosted some pretty epic events though out its many decades.

Jaxon Edwardson I cant make custom stages that way.. the logos are made with photoshop and is simple graphics design. To create stages that way you’d have to be a hell of an artist which I am not.
