89, they were my first pair of Jordans, I thought they were so uncomfortable & the side wings kept hitting each other & it pissed me off no end, so I sold them & got a black pair of either BKs or LA gears if I remember right way more comfy but after them I went back to my old skool favs of Puma suede's & Shelltop pro-model. Knowing what I know now wish id kept them. I really want the Olive Craft 4s my brothers got a pair & there really nice. 1989 I was 17yrs old, WOW! time FLIES! 💯

I got these Fire Reds in 3rd grade. My had to put them on layaway. They were $75. Shit was real in the 80's. Still got them after 2 months of layaway 🙏🏽

89 in 89, 96 with tax, I was in the 6th grade with the Blck Cement...gotta remember, the 5 came out earlier in 90 contrasting with utilty blue about a month or 2 after the blue 4 released. We called by the yr back then, to have on Jordans in the mid 80's thru the mid 90's was like being a personal car show display...

I'm a huge Adidas Forum 84 guy, but these (With an aged look like the ones you're holding) might just be my favorite Jordans overal. I always wondered what Jordan 4's could look like as EXTRA HIGH-tops, a bit like some of those Reebok Pumps, that could be really sick. Mostly white leather with colored/black accents and some hits of cream/off-white on bulky 80's/90's basketball shoes, maybe like a gum or transparent outsole etc. seems to be the formula to MANY of my favorite shoes. 3:20 These are also sick, btw., wish I had your collection!

It was my first Jordan too. I was living in the uk at the time, and I got £50 from my grandma for my birthday. I went to downtown London on my own and bought a pair of grade school Jordan 4 fire red. When I got home l, my dad took them away because he was mad I spent all my money on a pair of shoes. My dad is still an asshole, and not just for that!

My mom bought me an on sale pair of all white 1s in 6th when they weren’t anything special Then in 7th I remember seeing Chris Low getting on the bus with White Cement 3s and I was in love 😍; With Jordan’s lol I was able to get 2nd hand OG 4s 🔥red, 5, 6 and 7s from a good friend that regularly got new shoes. Agassi’s were the first pair of shoes I tried to buy with my own money. My dad told me he would pay half for any shoe I wanted and I then painted a house down the street with a friend it took two weeks and I made about $75 if I recall correctly, my dad took me to the shoe store, and when he saw the price of the Agassi’s he said hell no and reneged on the agreement. That salesman felt bad for me and dropped his commission so I had enough to purchase a pair of Bo Jackson’s instead. Thanks sales dude

5th grade 1990 was when sneakers became a topic of interest and it all boiled down to whether you.had the visible air unit or not. So the Jordan 5, Air max 90, air tech challenge, and Air trainer SC (bo jackson's) were the mount Rushmore of shoes and I've always had all 4 of them since

I remember it was so iconic at the time when it cameout. I notice alot of people were sporting it. I thought it was the best Air Jordan's made at the time. Glad I copped the retros. I notice the tongue on the retros are much taller then the originals which makes it standout more. Other than that it's a dope shoe.

I was also in 5th grade. I got the black 4s to start the year. As the year went on, I made straight As on two straight report cards and I had scored 10 or more points in 3 straight boys club games, so my reward was the WHITE AND BLUE 4s (which are my favorite/now called “military blues)…

@@Forsy23 if the shoe gods allow me too. I scored to of the black 4 reimagined so I’m hoping I didn’t use all of my luck. Impressive to see a pair from 89. That was a fun time, basketball wise. Do you remember those caricature t-shirts with NBA players that were drawn, and the players had big heads? They were big around 88-90…

When I first saw the Jordan 4 in general I fell in love with them. First I remember the white cement with the splatter this one guy had in 6th grade, then in 7 th I saw the black cement. I’m thinking the shoe release was close to end of school I’m guessing. THEN, I saw the fire red I was in awe!! They looked soo freaking clean! Then all of a sudden I saw the military blue 4’s!! I tried to convince my mom to get them but they were too expensive. I would tell myself.. why does Michael have these shoes soo expensive? It would really get me upset. Lol I think the visible air unit was the selling point for me.only thing my mom got a chance to get me was the AIR SOLO FLIGHT HIGH which to me resembled the Jordan 4 to me. Only up until my 9th grade I got the black infrared 6.I worn them to ground. Lol Great memories! And now I just get OG classics I wished I had growing up. It’s soo freaking addicting. My wife thinks I’m crazy but she won’t understand. 🤣 Now I’m waiting on the military blue🙏🏾

funny grow story,I understand how you feel, sometimes families just not support us,till we become an adult and work to buy the sneakers we’ve dreamed 😂but those sneakers, those og style or old shoes are gone, and that fresh feels are gone, unless nike bring them back as the original outlook and material

What’s under the insole on the men’s pair I picked up a pair not sure if they are real. The tag matches perfectly but it has the board underneath the insoles? It’s green on mine. I’ve never seen that except on Jordan 6s
