Nike BMX: How to Barspin

We had the whole Nike BMX crew out in San Antonio for a film trip. In between sessions, we hit up Garrett Reynolds, Chad Kerley, Nigel Sylvester, and Dennis Enarson so they could give you the breakdown on how to do bunnyhop barspins.

But this does go to prove a point that everyone has their own method, what works for one person may not work for another, Nigel pinches his seat, Garrett doesn't worry too much about that and likes his rear end lower in the air where as Dennis likes to do it as he reaches the top, everyones bikes are going to be set up slightly differently and everyones has different body types so what works for one may not for another

I'm so close to them, I get the full rotation, but I don't bus them at all, and find it really hard to catch the bars with my throwing hand, that or I grab it but it slips off. Any tips?

as helpful as this video is, the only way i think i will ever get help for a barspin is to keep trying. this video, along with 100s of others iv'e watched, explain the process extremely well! now the rest is up to me i guess. or maybe i need a head headset.. ;)

i used to have that problem, it's most likely cos you're not commiting you are passing them to a certain point then stop, you really have to throw it, let your hand go about a quater of the way round then drop your catch hand and let the bar float into it

I used to say the same but try throwing it with your right hand for a full day, first doing "manual barspins" and when you always catch it start to hop. Now it's easier for me to throw it with my right hand.

I am very new to bmx and am looking for a bike. A lot of the bmx videos I see people do not have breaks why is this? And does having breaks on limit you as a rider?

Zerrv most people remove the brakes so they can freely spin the bars. the brake cable would prevent you from doing this if you run brakes. it just saves money. personally i hate riding brakeless so i use a gyro so i can run a back brake and still spin my bars freely.

Sure! I barspin with my right hand and have a brake lever in the same. I have no left lever, that would make it as uncomfortable as throwing barspins with my left hand, i don't catching bars with a lever at the same grip.

i recomend buying online as u have more of a variety of brands... i have the federal mid pivotal seat and mid is the size that everyone calls fat + the shadow conspiracy mid pivotal seat is good and there is a premium fat seat that everyone has :)
