I like the look of both pairs and I have the Pegasus 33 so it’s time to upgrade. I also have a couple pairs of Adidas to compare. Now based on everything, I will probably buy the Pegasus 35 because of durability and I like to run on shorter, fast runs like you said. A year after both introduced, the peggy is now being sold for roughly $25 and the epic react for $48 in our country in nike warehouse stores. I cant decide so i got both. I used the peggy for runnin and the epic for walking

I don't know about running, but I'm on my feet 8-10 hours from left to right, going up and down stairs. Epic react 2 are amazing cushioning and that wide sole gives you a better medial and lateral support when turning corners. I paid a bit more but I can't be any more satisfied.

You nailed it. For my side to side training i use Pegasus. For just straight forward runs i use Flynit Racer. If you do lateral trainninng in Racer your gonna bend your ankle and game over.

Excellent review. Subscribed. I was wondering about the new Pegasus. I have been running in Epics and really enjoy them. Curious how the Odysseys compare as that seems to be a more comparable shoe to the Pegasus in terms of the outsole and upper. The lack of the outsole on the Epics is its biggest flaw and yet allows it to stay so nice and light. Even though the bottoms are a lil bit beaten up, they still perform consistently well.

no. the vomero is still full effect. The vomero is much more stabile than either of these, plus much protection. the new one comes out late November.

They are not out yet officially as far as general release. There were some sold at the Boston Marathon. They come out in May. I was lucky enough to have a connection on the peg 35.

Tbh Pegasus with zoom air has always just been a responsive run-fast shoe. Zoom air seems to add pop under your foot and allows for smoother toe off in my experience. When I run in Pegasus or Zoom Air I tend to want to push the pace. Glad you did the review...it helped me rule out dropping coin on the Reacts. Patiently waiting in the Peg’s to be released!

id say 5k-9k are “shorter” some people go on 10+ mile runs. I usually stay under 7 mile runs at a time. Unless I have a dedicated “long run”. Mostly shorter runs of 2-5miles when I’m just running for fun.

Really interesting. I assumed it would be the other way round, i.e. the React for speed work, because it is lighter and the Pegasus for long runs.

FTStratLP when you’re going for speed the weight (while it does matter) matters less and you benefit more from the responsiveness and faster turnover than you would from the couple of Ounces of weight. Now the longer the race the more those couple of ounces may start to make a differences. This is an “extreme” example but it’s like track and field. A elite 100m sprinter spike will have a rugged, stiffer, slightly heavier plate, whereas a 10k track runner will have a lighter, less stiff spike to help stay comfortable for that longer duration. This video was specifically the Pegasus vs epic react. If I were to compare the nike zoom elite 9, streak 6, or something like that it would be more of an contrast between being a “faster shoe”

Well, if you're going a long distance, you wouldn't want to feel weighted down by a slightly heavier shoe. But you might want more support, so it's a sacrifice to make either way.

Joey Simon exactly, some people want more cushion during their long runs with shoes like the Asics nimbus or NB 1080. So most times it’s gonna depend on the purpose of their longer run. If it’s a slower paced run some people don’t mind the extra weight if they can be comfortable and supported...if it’s a faster paced longer run then it may be worth going with a lighter shoe that has more response. Depends on the purpose of the run and the person running in it. That’s why when people ask which shoe is better...it’s never a simple answer unless they know what kind of feel they’re looking for. 😅

my flytefoam shoes take about 1 run to break in. My Dynaflyte 1 had almost no break in period. My dynaflyte 2 took about 7 miles to break the stiffness. The roadhawk took awhile about a week of running to break it in.

Jamison I'm in the market for a new pair of runners I'm looking for light weight shoes that are good for road running, I currently mostly do 5k 10k 15k and half marathons, my last pair of shoes were asics gel nimbus and I thought they were decent but too stiff for my liking, which do you think would suit me best, Nike Zoom Fly, Epic React Flyknit, Pegasus 35 or wait for the Pegasus Elite

wong dong if nimbus was too stiff the Pegasus might work, but it won’t be as cushioned. I think the epic react or odyssey would be s good compromise if you still want impact protection like the nimbus provided but in s less stuff package. Depending on how structured you like your upper..I’d lean towards reacts. I have tried the new Pegasus so maybe someone who’s wear testing it might have more insight, but it may be worth waiting for in August

cesar ramirez bolaños no he just said he preferred the pegasus for his shorter faster runs. Due to the fact the pegasus felt more responsive. While the epic felt more cushioned for your slow long runs.

God.. I have both of them and I feel absolutely the contrary about them... For short and fast runs (max 10K) I use the React ones, and for more ( half-marathons and marathons) I use the Pegasus 35! my feeling (and corroborated with the numbers on my trainings) is that I go slower with the pegasus and much more quicker with the React... I guess it depends on how your feet are?

Most reviews are based off something i personally want to check out or if there is a high demand for it. I feel like the Pegasus is a bit heavier for a faster shoe though. It is like over two ounces heavier than the Epic. A better combo would probably be the Zoom Elite/Epic or Zoom Elite/Pegasus. I see the Pegasus and React as similar all-around shoes, but the React is a lot lighter. Even if it is a little softer, the light weight works well for speed work, and the amount of cushion you get for that weight is enough for me to be my workhorse shoe.
