my daughter was attracted to the hypervenom shoe immediately because of the reviews. In March, I was about to buy them on our normal website at $175 but my wife found the shoe in her size on eBay for $113. She loved the grippy feel to maneuver the ball, good contact when shooting. But by April we started seeing wear - the outer white part was wearing off revealing the grey material beneath it. By May, the colorway on the instep was worn on both boots. By the end of the season, the soleplate separated from the boot. Since we did not purchase them from a Nike authorized dealership, we were not able to utilize any warrantee/guarantee. Too quick to fall apart IMO. Has anyone else had this experience? Maybe this is more common than I realize, but we usually get a spring and fall season out of boots before buying the next.

I'm a big fan of the Obra 2 and Phantom 3 Low. The UA Clutchfit 3 and X 17+ Purespeed also come to mind. I like the Puma Future quite a bit as well! Lots of solid options!

+MurphyGamer not at all, it is essentially a sock and it is not compressive. You do not even feel it. I have played in midcut boots and still own some Proximo Superflys and Magistas

He is right to a certain extend. It is not about the sock itself. The heel construction in general seems to be stiffer and more secure with the DF models. As Josh always says: It all comes down to personal preferences at the end. Do you want thet extra secure and stiff sensation from the highcuts or do you prefer the comfort level of the low cuts?

+dave126 unless the hypervenom iii is very different in the heel than any other high cut boot, the heel construction is essentially exactly the same. I have never worn it so I could be wrong but no high top models I have worn have been in any way more secure than even their low cut counterparts :/

Ok I didn't know that. I have only tried the first gen Magista Obra, which had a really stiff heel construction and they felt extremly tight and secure in the heel area. I didn't like that feeling anyway. That's why I never tried a high cut boot again ;)

James Constantin getting an older high end boot is generally always better than a current take down. The shoe is still high end and better quality. A take down likely won’t have such a advanced technology.

In general older models are better, but there are some exceptions. The current Nike Tiempo Legacy (now called Nike Tiempo Legend Pro) are easily as good as the older Tiempo Legend 6 if not better as an example.
