Nike Vapor 15 Elite - Review

I see some comments talking about the need to “break in” the boots. This is a big misconception with footwear in general. It’s true that shoes may get slightly more comfortable after extended wear. But no amount of “breaking in” will change the shape of a narrow soleplate. There are hundreds of football boots on the market. I can guarantee that everyone can find a pair that works for them without break in time. Don’t settle, and don’t let big brands get away with creating uncomfortable boots!

These can work for wide feet but getting them there takes a little effort. I have above average width feet but found a pair of 15s for $110 so I gave them a chance. While I agree the toe box and mid foot is narrow, break in will help a lot with that. Your pair don’t look broken in (at least from the close ups in the video) and still have the out of box shape. The biggest thing that helped me is shoe stretchers. I damped the upper and stretched my pair for a couple days for max width especially in the toe box and mid foot. Since then, they’re perfect and are extremely comfortable. Toe box is opened up and the entire boot has molded to my feet after using them the past 2 months. Now all that said, I don’t think it should take stretching boots out for them fit, but you can def get these to that point lol. Honestly though for anything close to retail I wouldn’t get them but anything under $160 they’re worth it. A solid pair of shoe stretchers will run you about $25. These aren’t my favorite vapors but coming from someone who wore vapors starting from the vapor II, these are a solid boot. Not as good as anything from the X-13 though…

I agree!! Hard to tell when you try them for a little bit and judge them right away… I mean am sure they are narrow but you can always go one size up (that is what I did) they feel good now

No, boots should be comfortable out of the box. You should also not need to wear grip socks in order not to slip. Modern football boots are just bad on average in comparison to what we had 15 - 20 years ago. They don't need to be feather weight, it makes zero difference whether your boot weighs 210 grams or 270 grams, your leg muscles are very very powerful. But the hunt for lighter and lighter boots has caused them to become very narrow, uncomfortable, and suffer in terms of lockdown.

Vapor 13 Pro was the only Merc I could every fit in with my wide feet. Actually stretches a ton . They used "circle knit" intead of flyknit alot more stretchy and the upper was Nike Skin over a thin liner so it molded to my feet great and got super soft . Got a few good seasons before the gimmicky split sole fell apart .

The weird thing is that these mercs are by far the widest in the history of mercs, and that's why I don't like them. Compare these, for example, to a superfly 4. Those were slimmer but still comfortable. I think it's just that your foot shape is unfortunately too wide for slim speedboots. Hardcore speedboot lovers kinda dislike these mercs for being too "generally appealing due to the increased width"

The problem with the mercurials is still that they’re the only boots that don’t fit a lot of foot shapes and one of the reasons why I rarely worn Mercurals. Great boots and tech but just something that feels weird for my feet

Every football boot nowadays is far away from the anatomical shape of our feet, Adidas f50, tiempo legend 10, predator, Phantom gx so that’s not really a argument

Agreed! But some have a better shape than others. Look at New Balance for example. Nike is also the market leader, so I’d like them to set an example.

I have plantar fasciitis in my right foot and made the mistake of buying these boots… my foot was destroyed. Had to get the copa mundial to accommodate my foot but when I say these cleats literally hurt to wear… it’s not worth it.

I been wearing barefoot shoes for a while now and now I can only fit in predator accuracy or leather boots. Pretty sad that vapors have gotten so narrow these days. I understood everything u said in the review cuz I felt the same trying on the vapor 15

In my opinion the GX or the tekela v4+ are generally wider but narrower in the toe box…

It’s a good deal, but unfortunately has the similar narrow shape of the Elite version. I found the Academy had more room due to the traditional lacing system.

Nike mercurial are getting weaker and weaker. They have no protection nowdays. Less protection. I had experience with the phantom (gripknit) and overtime my foot hurt cuz i had not much protection. Now mercurials are turning into the girpknit making them with less protection and layers. I changed to mercurials bc of their layers. Now they change to the gripknit :(( This mad ready pack is the last good one at least for now. I have em but its starting to be uncomfortable after using them cuz i bought the wrong size too small. I wanted to buy another one maybe at the end of the year but i dont think they make it anymore and i cant find them in football shops no more :(( I would go with the mad brilliance but they have the diamond nike swoosh logo. Im concered with it cuz i have a feeling it would peel off cuz its a different object. Unlike other football boots its not printed in it. Its like sticked. Do u think it will peel off overtime? 3. Should i change to tiempo?? Bc i also experience the same as u , when wearing it for 2 hours taking them off was a relief (Im talking about the mercurial). and sometime wearing them hurt. Though maybe bc i bought the wrong size. I shouldve bought 2 size over me. I wanted to buy tiempo recently but i saw the review where the tiempo bends in 2 (the review was for pro or academy.
