Interesting variation in spin and distance depending on strike, I'm surprised how much it changed with Matt. I like the idea of getting enough spin to hold a green and control rollout, aspects of club selection, ball placement and strike to take into account. Good stuff, I like the derivative information and thoughts in these club tests, thanks.

Hi Mark. Noticed that your spin with the Ap1 indoors is a bit higher than when you tested the Ap1 outdoors. Is that due to hitting off the mat vs. grass? Like the videos.. Thanks for keeping us informed.

Hi Mark ! Tungsten is what the swede that discovered it called it. Tungsten means "Heavy stone" in Swedish. We discovered later that was in fact a metal, not a stone ! So we changed the name to Wolfram which is the correct name for the it (in the periodic table). Please help getting the industry to use the proper name ! Cheers and keep up the good work !

Nike look great and I like the Black colour! Only problem is I had black irons before, different make, but within 1 season all the black on the sole wore off and made them look scruffy. Keep up the great videos please.

Yeah colour fades on all irons like that..That's why alot of people just stay with chrome

I also have the AP1 716's and they are fantastic. You will not be disappointed, I don't like to talk up clubs too much because no matter the brand or price of the club if you hit it off the hosel it will shank regardless lol, that being said these clubs cover mishits as well or better than any other brand all while looking great. I was also impressed with the GMax but they are so big and hideous it almost looks like a juniors training club. The Titleists are great!

Do you find it hard to get realistic results as far as strike is concerned when you're hitting off the carpet, as opposed to taking a divot on the grass?

+PkGam in a perfect world, yet we know certain players hit a fat one every now and again with their irons. But on the mat your club will just skip into the ball....

+Jon Gee Oh definitely, but hitting the mat before the ball would cut off power anyway because they're a cushion. So I think they'd be able to tell when they hit one a bit fat and then omit it from results.

There's also a big difference in the stock shafts of the 2 clubs. The Titleist has the True Temper XP 95 which is just over 10 grams heavier than the Nike's made for TT ZT 85. The XP 95 has been a massively successful shaft this year and it plays extremely well for a variety of players. I like that Mark stresses getting fit but sometimes overlooks the importance of the shaft he's testing in comparison videos. A big part of getting custom fit is finding the right shaft, it is the engine of the club.
