@bluesque9687Ай бұрын
@TimGrose Yes you have! Especially when it comes to Nike shoes. But overall, I think your analysis is crisp and comprehensive-- you try everything first hand, especially when you compare shoes, then when you get your spreadsheets out :) Well, yea, the comparisons influence not just my choices but also tempt me into buying new shoes even when I dont need any!... I have been on the brink of buying Peg 40 and Vomero 17 many times just because of your analysis of them! So far i have resisted. Now, i am thinking about vf6... i think i will do well if i can put it off until next year!

I got a pair (EK edition) recently in my UK14, but haven't had chance to run in them yet. Still trying to get back into the swing of things after the NY Marathon. Legs not quite firing enough to enjoy anything other than easy runs right now. Excitied to see if the hype is real. Great looking shoe.
@TimGroseАй бұрын
Remember seeing your name when looking at NYM results. Was it a good one for you and what shoes did you use ? Imagine these are going to be about 350g for you - think the only runner I know with longer feet than Andy FOD Runner & me. Never sure what you do if are a UK 15 or more as very few options there.

@@TimGrose The experience was amazing, though my performance was not. I struggled with issues with my right calf not long after doing the first half. After that, it became a run/walk effort to the finish line. Still managed 3:16, so it could have gone worse. Goal was sub 3, which felt really good until the niggles. It was more about the experience, so I'm not too worried. Just need to reset and work on any weaknesses moving forward. I opted for a new pair of Alphafly v1's for the race. It's been my go-to shoe for most races (half and up). The original plan was the Alphafly 3, but I think they're missing that extra punch that I'm after. Didn't want to risk breaking the usual formula. I'll have to get them on the scales and report back on the actual weight.

@Skjoldborg8Ай бұрын
@@TimGrose I very much am, yes. I gotten a pair of Alphafly 3´s, and want to save them for my marathon in march. But I am also considering if im better of buying another pair of Alphafly 3´s to just make me more used to race in them. But I really feel tempted by you saying the stability and "ease of mind" from using the Zoom Fly 6. But yeah, also saving money is also a nice thing. Its my first marathon, but not my first long distance race.
@TimGroseАй бұрын
@ I normally do harder training sessions in Vaporflys (got loads) or Adios Pro 3 so was nice to actually use a non out and out race shoe. Alphafly 3 just seems a lot of shoe in my large UK 13 but I think I would need to use them more if really wanted to race in them. Certainly good idea to use your preferred race shoes in training now and again so ideally yes I would get another AF3 if I were you but they are very expensive. I feel there is also an element of saving my best shoes for race day so optimally get another AF3 & ZL6.
@Skjoldborg8Ай бұрын
@@TimGrose Thanks a lot for your perspectives Tim! I really appreciate it. Ideally I should get both another set AF3, and a set of ZF6, but yeah, maybe the second pair of AF3 is more important for me to be sure I have the best training in them and the freshest shoes for my marathon. Either way, I'm definitely looking into the ZF6 at some point, cause it ticks all the boxes for my marathon training. 😊👍

Thinking of getting these and trading in the Saucony Speed 4.

They are kind of similar (at least in use cases) but find the Zoom Fly 6 stiffer and a feeling got a bit more cushion due to the higher stack. Probably not much in it in "Speed" terms.

@TimGrose2 күн бұрын
Thanks for the sub! I have the same size in all my Nike shoes but my Vaporfly 3 does have a thumbwidth space in toebox as I feel my Zoom Fly 6 does too. If you want the Zoom Fly 6 to have a bit more space than your Vaporfly 3 then yes I would go up 0.5 size.

I feel I should be offered a Nike discount for getting to Volt level on NRC. I think I will carry on for now with the Adizero SL2 which I think your characterization is about right: a cheap and light shoe - it’s ok.
@TimGroseАй бұрын
Yeah, as ever, if you have a shoe that probably serves a similar type of purpose to one you don't then perhaps it is just FOMO to try another one. I just felt I need a bit more "stability" than the SL2 was offering me so haven't been wearing them of late TBH.

FYI - the Superblast V1 runs quite long. I picked up some used UK12's, and there's some space ahead of my toes. Saying that, I'm a 'small' UK13

Yeah and I did try a UK 12 on the Novablast 3 as well as a 13 and concluded firmer was a fraction short and latter bit long but no 12.5 of course. Hi Tim, haven’t checked all the comments, but this shoe is currently excluded from Nike promotion (despite the intro on the app saying you get 25% off all full-price products). Seemingly “all” means something different to Nike from the rest of us …
@TimGroseАй бұрын
yeah clearly not "all" and indeed looking now it just says 25% Off Full-Price Styles ... Exclusions apply. TBH there aren't many left anyway. Suggest try Sports Shoes as I can usually get 15% off there from my England Athletics affiliation and/or my club's code.

@TimGroseАй бұрын
If the Novablast 5 is anything like the previous 4 versions then I found it a very different shoe to this ZF6. I would only use the NB as an easy day shoe. That said could be just my size. So certainly not either or for me but appreciate can’t try literally every shoe.

I honestly don't think you're missing much by not having the Superblast 2's. I fully appreciate that it would be nice to even have the option to buy them in the first place (tut tut Asics) but having had a pair myself who then sold them on I just think the hype got to people and they now have to stick by it 😂 I replaced my Superblast 2's with the Prime X Strung v2 and IMO its just a far better shoe. Anyway, enough of my rambling, I'd like to try these out, but I'm holding off for the release of those Evo SL's and the adizero Pro 4 in January 😂

@matthanna1980 That's a real shame as it's a fantastic shoe 👌🏻 All you big footers need to get a petition together to demand these brands do more for taller people 😁
@TimGroseАй бұрын
Actually I do have a UK 13.5 (same as a 13 in Nike) in the Prime X2 Strung. You may recall did a review on it. Bit of a brick in our size (over 400g) and oddly a very shallow toe box which made it feel was a bit short even though it wasn’t. If I overcome numb toes it did, to be fair, roll well but I couldn’t really so abandoned it. I faired better in the original Prime X in a 13.5. Matt has my 12.5 I originally got which were a bit small for me. I did wonder that about Superblast. I never really got that excited with any of the first four versions and the form factor of being a fairly wide and rather clunky shoe in my size did make me think it might well not be for me. I have heard the next version of that and the Metaspeed Sky & Edge will be done in larger sizes so will see. Right now my Nike shoes are mainly all am wearing with only Adios Pro 3 also getting the odd go for sessions.
@paulmulksАй бұрын
@TimGrose Yeah I had the same issue initially with the toe box feeling very narrow on my pair but thankfully that seems to have eased up a little and now it's not something I notice too much. I can imagine weight (of the shoe) is always going to be an issue when you have feet the size of ski's 😂 My little size 8's it's never that noticeable haha
@TimGroseАй бұрын
@ ah I might have to give them another go but, even so, they did feel like a lot of shoe on my feet. Indeed it is a problem with these very high stack ones. Superblast did appear to be both high stack but not too heavy so for that reason alone can see why they appeal to seemingly quite a few runners.
