Would these be good for daily wear for comfort like the Zoom Pegasus 39?
@jakej7222 жыл бұрын
It always seemed odd to me that the Zoom Freak line wasn't crafted around more stable midfoot elements.. given the power and force which Giannis euro-stomps around.

I miss those Z starter clothes they were 1 of my favorite brands as a kid in the 90s. I love the aesthetics of the Freaks but I’ve yet to pick one up yet, interesting they are 1 of the best on the jump height test. Might consider grabbing a pair when they go on sale definitely an improvement from last version.
@seouleshoes2 жыл бұрын
Love your videos, and dope outro. I really am torn by the Giannis line, he’s one of my favorite players, but Nike seems to keep changing up his shoe and not having much consistency other than the tilted forefoot zoom units recently. I’ve wanted to get one of his shoes for awhile now, but the 1 and 2s don’t have the best support, and the 3 does, but some say minimal cushion. (I personally can’t tell from trying them on they feel solid thus far.) I was hyped seeing the 4, thinking it’d be more cushion than the 3, to which it is, but that lack of a shank plate I’m iffy with. Current hoop shoe I’ve kept going back to is the LeBron X Elite, and that’s just a helluva shoe containment/support and cushion wise. (Traction’s also really good and I feel the court feel/impact protection is a good balance.) I like the idea of what Nike’s doing, but when full length zoom and consistent tractions used to be $150 or less (and $180 max,) it’s hard to keep trying the new shoes in my opinion. (I get inflation comes into play but man the lack of traction and overall durability, along with minimal cushioning is a tough pill to swallow haha.)

I was wondering, can you choose a "comparison shoe" - something that likely won't degrade easily (mushy foam, etc. but instead has a solid frame, stiff/durable foam) that you can do a jump height test with for every video so we can use it as a baseline? Some big numbers from something like the AJ36 is expected, and maybe LeBron 19s despite the heft, but the Pumas and Freak 4s. It might be one good way to do the comparison a bit more scientifically. We can probably look at both a difference and diff %age then.

My son got the Freak 4's to replace his Freak 3's which he had for a couple of years. He plays or trains basketball every day of the week - size 15, 184 cm, 90kg. He destroyed the factory insoles in 2.5 weeks in the Freak 4's. The heel grid pattern seems to be the issue, just chewed up the thin foam of the insole. He got a pair of Precision 6's a week earlier and zero issues with those. Would have bought some Move Game Day Pro's but can't get them in Australia yet sadly. Taking him to a podiatrist to get some decent insoles.

I've noticed that your jump height test heights have been getting higher. Looking for something minimal and light but with great impact protection and force absorption. Also a wide foot lol. I tried the Wade 10 & pg6 and they just dug into my feet and didn’t conform well. Currently wearing NB Twowxy v2/3 and they’re both ok but feet are usually sore afterwards too. Any thoughts on a minimalist shoe with good cushioning/impact protection? @g10118 Жыл бұрын
I think it's more about the surface area of the herringbone-type pattern. Looks like those ridges can can roll over pretty easily and get side wear, excelerating the rate of wear overall. Usually, the more surface area the better in terms of durability for outdoor. I just got a pair and almost exclusively ball outdoor, usually on a rough court. I'm relatively light so hoping they will hold up okay.
@maronn620 Жыл бұрын
@@g10118 How's the outsole holding up? Bought mine a week ago, and there's a slight wear in the heel part already after a few games. I've been playing mostly on polished concrete courts.
@g10118 Жыл бұрын
@@maronn620 Tread pattern worn flat on the inner forefoot/ball area. Usually the area with highest wear for me. Wear on the heels not as bad but definitely some material gone (the names on the center heel area worn through in places). That was at about 4 weeks playing a few hours 4-5 times per week. However, I ended up breaking the 5th metatarsal in my left foot with these shoes. I have a pretty high vert but I'm relatively light and the landing felt pretty normal. Came down on the outer side somewhat but it didn't feel particularly concerning until the bone snapped. Never broken a bone before in 34 years and nothing about the situation seemed to warrant a broken bone. Felt like the sort of jump and landing I've done over and over without any problem, even in completely worn out shoes. I felt quite a bit of compression in the side of the shoe on landing. The x-ray showed the break right where the zoom unit ends and the foam begins going towards to toe of the shoe. Wondering if the foam collapsed while the zoom unit held up and started to rebound. I think a larger size would make this sort of injury less likely. The zoom unit would be covering more area on the foot in a larger size. I don't like extra space at the end so the decision to go for a tight fit might have helped set up the conditions for the break. Anyways, I'm a little concerned about these shoes now. Be careful! Been in recovery for 4 weeks now, still have 2-4 weeks to go before I can walk without the boot thing. Not good.
