I've got 6 years of working in kitchens, I did two years of culinary in high school, and I'm trying to go back to school to continue that. I'm currently a dishwasher with no hope of moving off them because my boss doesn't want to have to hire a new dishwasher. I gave an actual piece of advice to a coworker about how to keep lettuce for longer, and a coworker who wasn't involved asked how I learned that. When I reminded them that I had been in a culinary class (and also had been working food service twice as long as them), they laughed and said "Oh, and where'd that get you?" I still haven't forgiven them, because I genuinely hadn't done anything to deserve that fucking energy.
