I'm interested in the USB-C connection, not much commented by reviewers. Nikias, is the microphone also recognised over USB-C? If so, this could do as a speaker companion for a Mac or Desktop, solving the issues we have today with HomePod Mini integration with Mac (latency and lack of support for mic). I use the new tribit x sound plus 2, and I think it easily beats the beats. It is cheaper at 70 dollars, with superb sound quality of 30watts. Plus it gives cover protection for the usb c and the 3.5mm aux port, Unlike the beats here has an open usb c port and No aux port.. I also have the jbl charge 3 and that is also great but I prefer the tribit with new features at a lower cost and greater louder cleaner sound.

AirPods 4 are probably coming in September or October. AirPods Max 2 may be released in fall or winter and AirPods Pro 3 are coming in Fall 2025 at the earliest.

Where’s the spatial audio? It’s no longer uncommon for portable speakers to boast immersive 3D audio. Anker offers it on the $199 Soundcore Motion X600, which is a little more expensive and spec heavy than the current Beats speaker. Not having spatial audio support on the Pill is disappointing, especially since Apple has a penchant for engineering high-powered technologies into small designs.

@@Dma118 Well it's weird, you don't get any benefit from atmos in a mono package. Virtual Atmos rely on phase differences between channels alongside tuning tweaks in the high mids / treble to give the illusion of surround. You can't do that on a basic mono speaker. Though Atmos should be convincing on something like HomePod big size, the fact it does have multiple tweeters can allow these phase differences, even though it's still mono.

@@Dma118 When I heard about a new beats pill, my first thought was "did they add at least one passive radiator, bass was terrible on old pills", and I got my answer, no they did not. I can’t imagine how can anyone can be hyped about the new pill, I’m 100% sure JBL Charge 5 sounds much, MUCH better, with the same speaker arrangement and two passive radiators that are well tuned, and have little to no distortion (so no bass coloration), which means, nice deep bass for the size. And the price is similar…
