Okay, I have been thinking about this all week as I was reading. One of the main things that made this book confusing to me as well was Violet's tendency to "keep secrets" from the reader. We're in her head, but SO often she'll say something like "I hope the plan works" when she's never mentioned a plan before, and the reader doesn't know what the plan entails until it actually happens on the page. Using that trick once can build suspense, but doing it every 10 pages just makes the reader unsure of what they're supposed to know or not know at any given moment. SO frustrating! That being said I devoured this book. Thank you for coming to my ted talk

Ok this is so interesting because I didn't notice this happen at all lol!! I do see how that's weird when written in first person though... like we should know what she knows haha

I wasn’t super confused at the beginning but I definitely had to read it slowly and really take it in because there were so many characters and so many politics! Loved the book so much though
