This is the crux of pay to win mechanics. You can call it "pay to progress", "pay for convenience", whatever you need to tell yourself but when this type of monetization infects a game it can and will only get worse. That $250 dollar price tag needs to have a reason to buy it on par or better than what's been available in the past. Gotta make it appealing. I would say the convenience of certain things is whatever. More stash size, the container, and more starting gear and trader rep is whatever. However the ability to call a fucking BTR is ridiculous, to call friends into your raid? Ridiculous. The Scav thing? Ridiculous. None of those things should have been added to the game. Honestly Unheard should have been 150, or 200 to put it nearly on par with EoD, and to give people a chance to jump in at that higher support thing if they so wanted. Excuse the extra 50 bucks being a “late adopter” thing. Iunno. Any number of things they could have done the release of Unheard better.

They will try again, and they know they effed up but not for the reasons that the CONSUMER says they did. They were too bold, too forward. It will be much more subtle next time. You want pay for advantage you're going to get it, and if you really want a fair game on an even playing field you have to accept that ANY advantage is too much. Convenience, time, progression, it's all winning to somebody at the end of the day and it's all headed the same direction.

How do they think they can rush to complete the game. We've seen no glimpse the pieces are in place for the open world concept to even come close to working. Lightkeeper is a prime example of this, how are we going to buy / sell items while in raid. How / where will we access the stash? What happens when we die? How will the factions work and prevent killing others of the same faction. I dont think it's even gonna happen at this point

For the calling in backup item I have a few ideas to make it less ridiculous : -Make it so you have to be high up to call in your teammates -Make it so teammates spawn in with either a weight limit / reduced raid timer / etc. -Make it so they spawn in at logical locations, not just where the player is chilling. -Make it so it takes time to call them in, potentially having to defend their location from ai and or alerting PMCS to their location. -Disable item at start of wipe for a duration to allow other players a chance to progress without getting owned.

I invested a decent amount of time in this wipe early on before burning out. All the talk about Tarkov made me want to get a couple raids in, so I hopped on for a bit. Got killed by an obvious cheater in my second raid doing 90 degree snap turns. Figured since I was just craving some action, I'd hop into some unranked Arena. Straight to the action and no cheaters. Second Arena game had a dude on the other team hip fire spamming his AS Val who's bullets would take 90 degree turns out of his gun barrel around corners and insta-dome everyone. We had to suffer through 5 rounds of that. I'm done.

no one is saying, because probably no one knows, that this thing where you call for help is copied from a tarkov clone, it is a mobile game that you can play on steam, and when you are downed you can send support request, which will show up in the game chat, and even random people can opt in to help you, in that game, there is also an item that you can use if you die to go back into the same raid you died in, with 3 different option, naked with a pistol, or with 2 tiers of loadouts, and it will point you and the guy who killed you in each other's direction .. which i guess will be coming to tarkov in the nemesis edition worth 500$

4:30 mark, thank you OnePeg for also pointing out that even the "deep pockets player" who was a true believer and paid the 250 is now no longer a believer; since in order to "make it right" BSG essentially equally screwed those folks that paid 250 in order to appease those that were upset. One one think that upsetting both sides of a customer base is usually difficult to do, yet here we are.

The thing that gets to me most is how he said the PVE wasn't a DLC or whatever BUT you need to buy a Tarkov package to get access to it in general.... If not DLC why does someone need Tarkov?

Honestly as an EOD player, the "advantage" before all of this wasn't enough to keep me from running out of kit and money by level 11 this wipe. Yes I'm bad , but it helps to show just how not pay to win it is. This new stuff would definitely be a game changer and cause more success for those with that new kit

I'm sorry but more than double the size of a pouch is extremely P2W. I know because that's one of the p2w feature that made me pay for it (the other one is vendor karma). Of course since then they added a lot of things to make everyone else's progress slower, like flea market limitation, less ammo availability, and the shitty ground zero start everyone HAS to go through to get other quests, forcing everyone in very high heat areas. Add to that the fact that they have to keep the streamer treadmill running, yeah you will have a hard time. If you are frustrated you will play more, EoD removes some of the frustration.

@@hardlogic3046 pouch means nothing if I only need stuff that's found in raid and I die. I've seen such lackluster loot that it's just not been worth. My puch is usually filled with meds and a wallet with money for vehicle extraction as well as some packing ammo, it doesn't get me anywhere if I get head eyes by a toz scav on woods while I'm running customs. P2W implies even as bad as I am I could get all this stuff and it would improve my gameplay, but that's not the case. This is a skill based game, and gear is dependent heavily on if their systems function like they are supposed to.

I got back into Arena. It's nice to play when we are mid/late wipe and you dont want to wear yourself down before the next wipe. Also is good for 'warming up' and Im curious to see what itll be like with tied progress, it could then be a good money maker.. but will it be balanced?

Onepeg thanks for the coverage of this topic I find BSGs handling of all of this just appallingly bad. Lately I find the Devs for Helldivers 2 amazingly upfront with so much of the inner workings and design decisions for their game a breath of fresh air. While also listening to the community! The comparison is night and day. Being a EOD owner I don’t plan to upgrade in the future. I hope that as a community we hold them to getting mod support via 1.0. Because I know that truly passionate fans will fix so many issues and add wonderful features! Hell a hardcore zombie mode the ideas are limitless.

I agree with almost everything you said except the end, if people want to buy something, even if you don’t deem a good value, for $250 after the edition changes were announced who cares. I don’t think strip clubs should be shutdown because I deem it a waste of money.

I didn't believe we lived in a simulation until this shi happened. The fact that a version of a game called UnHeard had most of the internet talking about it, people that had never heard... of the game before, people that don't play games at all heard about this shi show. The irony is so perfect that it just seems like something out of a children's story about morality and trading all the trust and goodwill you've earned for money. @@Chnkp You might be casein intolerant instead; could give A2 milk (or goat milk, it's better but more expensive) a go. If milk that has had lactase added to it (enzyme humans have but sorts of stop producing when they don't have milk for a long time) then lactose isn't the problem. Or it could be neither and just a crappy gut flora because whatever people believe to be healthy really isn't. If you're interested look up Randle's cycle, deuterium content of food and its optimal range for mitochondrial health, Ancel Key's deleted data, etc.

Limited to 3 only or 4 only. So he doesn't know and hasn't really put any thought into it besides it sounds cool. This game lost its appeal for me years ago when they started limiting the flea market and locking so much gear behind stupid quests because streamers could get so far through the game so quickly. Makes it difficult for anybody with family and a job to actually play and be competitive.

At this point I think Nikita was hoping a lot of player would buy the pay to win stuff to then nerf it into the ground because of how OP the items were, effectively making the upgrade completely worthless.

Didn't they stop selling EOD at some point ago? I don't understand why they didn't just start selling EOD again and offer perks and other things alongside the PVE mode and then I don't know, start PVE access at like, the Prepare for Escape level. If you bought the game at 50, or however much it costs, then upgrading to that next level would only be like 20 or 30 bucks and we wouldn't have seen anywhere near as much backlash as they wrought with the Unheard of Edition. Truly insane as to the level of greed that BSG has showcased and even though I want to get my friends to play coop in offline with me in a chill way, it is so hard to justify them buying a 250 dollar package to play the damn mode. Utterly insane.

FYI to Chat Grayzone warfare just hit early access and is practically the same as tarkov but better and actually already open world instead of just the eventuality of open world like the tarkov dumpster fire.
