Beau I'm listening to Nikki Giovanni and thinking this is your song and your poem. My tower/ backed by, the NY Community Choir, singing "Oh what a pretty little baby." I still see the baby in the man. Just as I saw the man in the baby. Sometimes when you're in my presence, you're so awesome it frightens me. But from birth you have always been my motivation to take it to the next level. When you were born, I was protesting and partying, and I thought God was simply an unproven concept created by man, possibly to explain the heavens. For me Plato was just as valid as Jesus, and between you and I, he still is. But when you were born, I knew that God is real and that man has a responsibility to worship and to seek after the knowledge of God. Therein lies the key to a progressive society and, if you will utopia. It takes work because of the theological power structure and because of the horrendous things past and present that are being done in the name of God. But you and I know better than that so lets leave that there for the proselytizers, the ignorant, and the weak. On November 10, 1981 at 3:07 p.m., you taught me that. Through turmoil, through sin, through chaos, and in Grace, that knowledge has carried me. I can't squeeze it all in here, but I just want to say thank you Beau. You live up to your nick name. Mon petit garcon est tres Beau. I know you hate that but it says it all. Love you, Mom.

As unrelated as the poetry and the music actually are, the poetry always bring them together and they seem as one. I wish I could explain it. It seems as if the emotions created by both just become so intertwined that there is no separation of the two.
