Planning out your makeup looks, enhancing the colours and brightening up your image is perfectly fine but I don’t think getting rid of your natural beauty lines and wrinkles is a good thing to advertise to anyone. Do we really need a whole generation of people growing up to be insecure about how they naturally look outside of photos? I get that you’re a public figure and your ‘looks’ are held to a higher expectation, but it just doesn’t sit right with me to advertise how easy it is to trick people into thinking you’re this perfect version of yourself.

Same. I’ve struggled with body dysmorphia too. It first starts off with one or two “harmless” little tweaks and before you know it you stop letting other people take pictures of you because you can’t edit them yourself. Suddenly I depended on it and it got worse to the point that I hated the way I looked in real life and begged my mom for surgery, bought tons of makeup all because I got upset about how i couldn’t look like my edited images irl. Nikkie is making this seem so harmless and creative when it’s not, she maybe using it on her makeup but I’m sure we all know people aren’t solely going to use this to make your makeup look better. It’s setting and enforcing dangerous standards to young children and I was a victim to it. I was so shocked when she talked about how the blur tool could “make your skin look like skin which is you know... smooth” absolutely not!

I’ve had a problem in the past not understanding how someone can put on 3 layers of concealer plus powder and not look a creasy cakey mess. Well you can’t. You do it and then cover it up with studio lights and Facetune. It’s hard to learn how to make makeup look good in person by watching social media.

I feel like the “subtle” changes are even more serious because it looks “like you but better” and that’s how it destroys your confidence. The praise you receive on those photos is about that alterations you made and not how you really look. If you just posted the photos without altering them you would still receive praise and compliments - let yourself believe that.

And now, you are promoting something that creates so many insecurities and tricks other people to think there is some real perfection they'll never be able to reach. It is so dangerous that everyone is trying to look like having perfect skin, perfect look, perfect relationships and perfect life. Having the need to hide every imperfection in our life is something that can be really damaging. It might look like FaceTune2 is just some innocent app to play with, but it really isn't. No app like that nor people who are using it are innocent. @@IamRocque It doesn’t matter if most influencers use Facetune, it may not be common knowledge to a her younger audience. Also for instance, we all know that celebrities get enhancements done but it won’t be right to promote plastic surgery. Sure you can give information about it and disclose anything anyone has had done but promoting it gives a wrong message. Even if she is promoting this for artistic use it’s pretty obvious that majority of her viewers aren’t content creators or post their makeup looks online to use these tools the way she has demonstrated. Reality is that Facetune is known to be used to modify your face and body .She didn’t promote this the right way even if she really had to which I don’t think was necessary in the first place. As the person above mentioned, she should’ve at least included a disclaimer. It's the reshaping of the face and the skin smoothing that makes this so problematic. It's good that you're open about using it but this is still gonna reinforce an impossible standard to some degree. Ofcourse you also make yourself look more conventionally pretty with your makeup, but that's still you, and you have always preached it to be for yourself, and like an art; this is really different and I feel like it doesn't suit your narrative, which makes me feel a little disappointed. In general everybody in this comment section is like "that's unhealthy, shouldn't be supported etc" but she just make the best out of her pictures. Sometimes you look way different on a photo than in real life and adjusting that is totally fine imo. Also, she is more comfortable showing herself like this, she doesn't completely change herself but way more tries to feel good about a photo and everybody seeing it.

No like I said beauty gurus who face tune and post pictures of them FaceTuned. Why? Bc then when someone who doesn’t face tune their pics are comparing their makeup and face or body to someone who is tuned tf up. Constantly striving over perfection that is not possible. You have wrinkles. Your makeup creases. Just accept that.
@michellemay1999
@michellemay1999 4 жыл бұрын
Everyone in the beauty community should hold realistic standards. Face tuning photo shopping. That’s unrealistic. Even those who go as far as getting work done on themselves. Now other girls gonna compare their selves to plastic people and want to be like them ? Honestly so demeaning and disgusting.
@Man-dd9fs

@@michellemay1999 okay then, don’t do you best pose, don’t play the angles, don’t use the best lighting, even don’t do makeup. Showing people that you tweak yourself is the best way to prove people that you can’t trust social media. You have no right to tell people what to do, especially when it comes to their bodies, editing or surgery. At some point, it’s our responsibility to see past that

So instead of having the mind set that if you don’t like something you can fix it maybe learn to accept and love yourself for you. Their isn’t anyone quit like you and your soul is what determines your worth in the end not the way you look.

@@yramat chill, I'm not going to... But the fact the the thought hit me, scares me... I wouldn't consider myself easily influenced by other people, and I still got tempted... Think of all the people, especially the young ones that looks up to her. We trust people we look up to, and are easily influenced by them. Therefore influencers have much power. Power to influence, and that shouldn't be taken lightly. Influencers have power, and with power follows responsibility. Something I think influencers forget sometimes... I'm not saying she shouldn't use facetune, because it's her choice. But when talking positive about it, she "pushes" a lot of people into doing it too. And yeah, people have their own minds, and can think for themselves, but there's a reason why people get the education their parents wants them to get, and that's because they are able to push thoughts and opinions on us, without even realising it. Because we look up to them, and trust them...

I use Facetune. I don’t go crazy with it, I don’t change the shape of my face or my hair. But to answer your question, no. 😅 I see your point, I do. But on the other hand... I am a make up artist. I enjoy doing creative make up & I love sharing my artwork on social media. But apart from that, I rarely wear make up. Ever. The make up I do takes time. & what it looks like in person rarely ever translates into a photo. I use Facetune to enhance, what I consider, my art. I assure you, you will never catch me in public with bright pink, purple, & glittery eyeshadow on. If you’re disappointed by that, then, sorry... I guess. 🤷🏻‍♀️ She edited a photo. A photo she took after she filmed herself without makeup, flaws & all, for the world to see. It’s not like she’s hiding anything.

@@lkayy that's exactly why I didn't understand her reshaping her head because we all know what it looks like anyway. It’s really a shame that you feel the need to facetune your face and body. We need to turn the tide towards appreciating our flaws and those things that not only make us different but also real people. Body shaming partially stems from this idea of being perfect - none of us are and that is ok.

we need content like this. exposing, and showing how people edit their photos. not DISSING people for it, but just stating that its a fact it happens, how its done, WHY people do it, and it sheds a light on not taking every photo at face value and just thinking about how it shows no one is perfect. it can show little girls the TRUTH about media, and not to believe 'this is how women look' because those women are edited. good onya nikkie for approaching it with a positive take and not presenting as something terrible or scary.
