For sure, they're all the same, but Nikki conducts the shared social-humility-performance so perfectly ineptly that it threatens the shared fantasy. I love that her character is the least successful of the group, making her over-compensate the most. I hope we get a little series about these cousins "the normal" ones needs her around to project on to. Would be hilarious if we discovered that her pro-bono performances at Red Robin were actually bringing delight to millions of children who are all genuinely desperate for a photo with her.

lol while her character is over the top and annoying it’s also frustrating being the only person at the table who can’t relate to the conversation. I work in finance and my roommate when I was in my mid 20s was a good friend of mine that was in grad school for pharmacy and when I’d go out to a brewery after work with him & his lab friends I’d feel so awkward sitting there listening to them talk about their lab experiments bc I just had nothing to add to the conversation so I sat there in silence until the topic shifted.

I think this clever skit works on a lot of levels. The three at the table are obviously hypocrites and jerks. They punched down at the Nikki person, and showed envy for some person who is not there. They are basically trash talkers. Then after they start bragging and bragging, they turn on the Nikki girl for just trying to tout herself a bit. It must kind of suck to live in a giant bubble like LA where your presence on social media is all that defines you.

The sketch made no sense whatsoever. The three jackasses abhor Nikki monologuing that she is successful (even though it's all fake), BUT they IMMEDIATELY start pumping each other up with flouts. If they had all agreed to downplay everything to keep from setting Nikki off - and had to work really hard to squelch just how awesome their lives are right now - then we've got a conflict that drives the comedy. Instead we get Nikki being over the top weird. Am I misremembering or did Nikki do a similar video a while back with her galpals on a similar theme...except in that one, they were downplaying in order to not trigger her.
