Case 1: 40$ half till 0$. 40/2^7 < 0.5 so 7 consecutive rolls of half would be needed, which has a raw probability of (6/30)^7 = 0.00128% check for the rest of the cases: 40$ is at least 7 consecutive half-spins 50$ is at least 7 60$ is at least 7 70$ is at least 8 80$ is at least 8 90$ is at least 8 100$ is at least 8 so if we want to roll 0$ then we have to hit at least 7 consecutive half-spins and then 40$ or 50$ or 60$. otherwise 8 consecutive half-spins and any dollar amount. 1.) Calculation of the probability of hitting 8 or more consecutive half spins is: 1 - P(failure) meaning Probability of failure (we hit less than 8 in a row) is 1 - SUM[k=0;7]P(k times half-spin) (n ncr k) * p^k * (1-p)^(n-k) (Binomial Distribution) so for n = 8 k = [0;7 ] p = 0.2 probability is: 1 - 0.99999744 = 0.00000256 2.) To that we have to add the probability of rolling 7 half-spins and then a 40$ or 50$ or 60$ which is: 0.2^7 * (16/30)
