It's sort of reverse psychology. They know the song is gonna feel different, so they release it before. It gets divided opinions, like they expected. That way, when they actually release the album, you enjoy the album more, cos you find more gems on it.

I've had a lot to think about this album it's solid for sure. My favorites are Ordinary Extinction, Giving Blood, Goliath, Animals, Dead Butterflies, Libertine, Little Wonder and Meteor. Impermanence is good but not great. This song as well.

My favourite song of the album. There are some other heavy songs like Impermanence, but it sounds a little weird to me. I find that many choruses sound quite similar and boring. I wish there were more breakdowns in general and I was really hoping for more growls from Sam like he has done live recently. I am thankful for all the great songs they have brought to us and they will stay one of my favourite bands ever but this album is really not my cup of tea.

@@Grenixity it’s not at all about synths or programmed instruments, and all about the kind of energy it brings and that constant background tone? I’m not sure how to describe it. The guitars are just kind of an on-pitch white noise, instead of being a specific “that’s a guitar sound”. Pardon the horrible description. It’s a similar guitar sound that even like Imagine Dragons brings. It’s there, and the riffs and melodies are great, but the tone is very Thats The Spirit or Imagine Dragons.

Tbh I’m not bothered about the new sound in general, I just think the chorus melodies need worked on cus they don’t have anything for me personally. Nothing wrong with going for a more catchy sound but I struggle to be pulled in by a lot of the choruses. Just my opinion though.
