I did this stacking different kinds of delay plugins when I was ~17, had a buddy over at the folks as a witness when mom called us for dinner. After that, we got within 20ft of my room and it already sounded like a Peterbilt was idling in my bedroom. Opening the door was like walking inside of a diesel engine, with the positive feedback making it increasingly louder until it became deafening.

You could probably write a song with up to 2 or 3 of these going as your "main" tone, and then get to the breakdown and blast the 12. Like. Riff, riff, riff, chorus, riff riff, chorus, clean ambient bridge, DISTORTION DESTRUCTION, chorus, outro. 3:32 of majesty. Can't wait for it.

I too had my awakening knowing nothing but the metal pedal. Except mine was a Zoom Trimetal. God what a terriblely over the top pedal that was. The EQ on it couldn't NOT destroy the sound and the distortion went from too much to something around the 4 Metalzones mark of this video. I loved it. It made me feel like a rock star. But nobody could hear me above the drummer.

I have never used the Metal Zone. My pedal is the Death Metal. Which I have never maxed out the settings I'm honestly afraid it's going to blow my amps up if I do. I usually keep the settings on like a 6. I'll drop down to a 4 if I want a clearer tone. Otherwise, the feedback is just unwieldy. I like a little feedback in my tone. Do that whole Eyehategod thing where they use feedback as an effect in itself. But if I'm getting feedback while muting the strings, that's too much man.

I had a friend in school growing up who was a bit a of an amp and guitar tweaker. he was about 15 he had an old am/fm radio with the cover off and he had found a place on the circuit board that would respond when you plug in a guitar. You can take apart an old battery powered radio and put your fingers on the circuit board and it will make funny noises this is how you find the location you want to plug into. He would just tape the bare wire from his guitar cable onto the board with some scotch tape. The tone was super distorted like fuzz but harmonically rich and textured. It was buttery and chewy it had so many great qualities and it was an original sound. His friend would come over and play songs off Blizzard of Ozz and it sounded amazing. I've been wanting to go find an old radio at a thrift store and make a radio amp and do some recording.

I don't know why i clicked on this earcancer video. but having performed a similar albeit limited experiment myself, i will add that the emulated pedal board is missing the impact of mains hum and RF interference picked up by the gnarly corroded crappy patch cables that would inevitably be used to string together metal zone pedals. I'm pretty sure that by the second or third metal zone the gain would be so high that the electronic/interference would be equally prominent in the signal as the guitar itself. Each pedal adding another layer of noise that subsequently gets boosted that would dominate any guitar signal that you wouldn't even know if something was being played on the guitar or not.
