The smile on Nikolas's face after he realized that Gia accidentally handcuffed herself to him is priceless and why Gia does this is both loving and humorous and this something that we don't see in his romantic relationships before or since. I think that they were handling Nikolas's full and complicated life just fine and that they would have been great parents because they viewed their relationship as a partnership and they deserved to have a happy marriage.

Guza wanted Marisa back as early as December 2003. It was printed in TV guide at the time that GH was trying to woo her back, but Marisa refused. I think she was wary after Jill sabotaged Gia's story and gave it to Courtney. There were rumors of them bringing on a daughter of Nikolas and Gia's around the time the original Valentin story was introduced in 2009, but the whole thing was changed and dropped for Franco. Then earlier this year they had Taggert return around the same time as Nikolas, while Trina was the one to spot him at the art gallery after a conversation Laura about Helena. A lot were speculating that she could've been their daughter, but it didn't happen.

@@nianikgia8432 I could see why Guza wanted Marisa back but I also think that Gia's storyline was sabotaged and Nikolas's storyline was sabotaged too and Nikolas still hasn't recovered from that even all these years later. This show never has trouble adding new characters so I hope that someday that Gia will return because Nikolas is still suffering. I think that Nikolas deserved to have a happy marriage and family just like he and Gia wanted.

@@amusicfan25a21 I was referring to even before Marisa left. She left because Jill backburned Nia and gave what was suppose to be Gia's backstory of being Sonny's sister to a pointless new character like Courtney while making Gia the bad guy in the red light nonsense as a way to try to force her off the show.

@@nianikgia8432 The irony here is that Gia got through running through a red light and Nikolas showed her that he would do anything to help and protect her and yes, he was in love with her in a way that he never was with Emily, Liz, or anyone else. No one really discusses Courtney now and Gia's storyline with Nikolas is the perfect example of strong storyline and a strong couple who were a ride or die couple and Gia knew all about Nikolas's dysfunctional family and still wanted to marry into that dysfunctional family.

I also love how this foreshadowed what happened next and how Nikolas and Gia just went on with the rest of their plans despite being handcuffed.

Taggert's head is going to explode. The interaction between Gia and him is so funny.

This was when we entered the more traditional down-to-earth part of the McTavish era. It wasn’t as memorable as what we got up to this point, but was generally better done and more character-focused IMO.
