Somehow Wim van Beek was able to make every note important and you had to listen to it and acknowledge it as being essential to the piece (as intended by the composer). I listen to him live once , on the "new" organ in the Bovenkerk Kampen and to many recordings.

Marvellous, piece, organ, and performance. I had not heard Bruhns before but he is on a par with Bach, Bohm, and Buxtehude. What is it with these B's ? So many riches in the German baroque organ literture. I love this music so much. Thanks for posting !

That's the historical pitch of the organ. Transposing it down a half step (if you would even consider) would result distort the harmonies (a little, but still) because of the historical (modified) Neidhardt tuning

@@henkvogel thanks, I didn't know! Stringed instruments of the period tuned lower than A440. So, sharp tuning surprised me. Really superb performance and thanks for your response!

All classical Lutheran church composers bñnnnfc mmm . XXr y I'llnmmm hmmmnbnnmgny u uu I Uh from the high age of Lutheran orthodoxy wrote great music better than others. But Bach sr, HANDEL AND Buxtehude are the masters of grand excellance just listen to symphony and harmony of the notes as they come forth in praise of God Almighty and his gracious , great works which have praising His Holy name in the highest heavens.
